You will need to get a new battery and charger, the batteries are $30 and the charger would be another $20. Walmart and Toys R Us sells them. We've got a spare battery so you can see that it works. It's got a forward / reverse switch but the reverse switch is 'glitchy' in that it doesn't always work.
