Hey just so all the people looking for an apartment know and the landlords out there too..... In Vermont it is not legal to ask for 1st, last and security deposit! You can only ask for 2 out of 3! If a landlord is trying to do this you can and should report them to the Vermont tenants association and the state. If they get in trouble enough they will have to stop and it will help us all. Also make sure to get a copy of the Vermont tenants handbook from your town clerk or police station or look it up online. You have more rights than you know and landlords have to obey the laws! Dont let them screw you and get away with it!
