I was recently took what I thought was an oil painting into a local frame shop. Although this picture truly looks like an original, I was told it is a giclee. A giclee is an \"oil painting\" reproduction on canvas. It appears to be a copy of \"museum quality\". I believe it to be a giclee copy of a very old and famous painting. It is absolutely gorgeous and the frame is beautiful and heavy. The picture and frame weighs over 30 pounds. The painting is dynamic and colorful. The theme of the picture is wonderful and reminiscent of the late 1800s. The frame is referred to as Comp. It is a shorthand term for \"composition ornament\" a general term for molded and cast mixture often used on these ornate and large paintings. The frame alone is worth a lot of money.
