Ive moved on, and its time for my Civic to do the same. My old reliable 1990 Honda Civic is for sale as a parts car or mechanics special. It was in good running condition last fall, but had some electrical issues, then got bumped by a hit-and-run outside the mechanics shop. 4-cylinder, automatic, LX model, gray. Clearcoat peeling. There are a couple dents. Make me an offer.To become a driver, it would need some help passing safety and emissions, including replacing a part in the steering wheel tree that regulates the brights/headlights, and two new tires. Leaks oil, lots of power steering fluid. One tire flat. Currently starts with jump from another vehicle. Probably best for parts but Im no mechanic. Great Car! Great gas mileage. This has been a great car that our family has outgrown and were sad to see it go. Comes with fantastic CD player. No rust! THIS CAR DOES RUN EXACTLY AS IT IS RIGHT NOW, JUST SMOKES WHITE SMOKEIt kills me to sell this thing but i just cant figure out whats wrong with it. I come out to SLC for the winters and work at Alta. I bought this wagon solely to be used to get up and down to snowbird/alta. I drove the car for two winters for just that. Definitely better to fly out here and have a car here than it is to drive across country. When I bought the car the previous owner said that his wife had had an accident that required the hood, passenger fender and tailgate to be replaced, he replaced this with kind of a mismatch of parts. Once I bought it I replaced the drivers side airbag as well. I have an extra passengers side bag but I havent bothered to put it in. Because it was only going to be used to get up to the canyon, I didnt have a problem with the fact that the hood, and fender didnt match the car. Nor did I care that the tailgate was the color of the two tone. The car ran perfectly, in fact I put a new clutch into it 2 years ago. The only problem I ever had with the car was the fact that after getting down to the bottom of LCC, there would be white smoke for about the first 1/2 mile. I attributed that to the fact that the car was over 10 years old and didnt mind the issue. In March of 08, my check engine light went on and shortly thereafter the white smoke became heavier and constant, not just after going down the canyon. I THOUGHT this was from the fact that the head gasket had blown as there was oil in my antifeeze reservoir. The car was parked and I decided that Id fix it when I got time/money/energy. Well in an effort to get it all fixed up, I bought a Chiltons manual, a head gasket kit, water pump, timing belt and all the pulleys and tensioners that go with the job of replacing the timing belt. Well, I replaced all that stuff, but the car still blows white smoke and gets oil back into the reservoir. At this point I simply cannot afford to replace any additional parts. If youre experienced with Subies you probably know exactly what this is and how to fix it.
