What we have here is a Dean Rhapsody 8-string bass. Its essentially a 4-string with a paired octave string for each main string. Its sound can be best described as \"piano-like\". You know the beginning of \"Jeremy\" by Pearl Jam? Thats a 12-string bass, but the sound is pretty much otherwise identical. Its a lot easier to play than one might think, too, and youd be surprised in how many applications it can be used. Got a trio? Thisll fill in whats missing. Even in a 4- or more piece, it fills in the bottom nicely without being obtrusive. The weight is also surprising; very light with no neck dive.
