This is a Magnasync/ Moviola 35 mm vertical film /sound editing machine, model UC-20-S formerly widely used in the movie industry until film went to 70 mm and electronic /digital editing. I have read that Academy award winning film editor Michael Kahn, who works with Steven Spielberg, often still uses an older Moviola for editing. Included with this unit are a Moviola 4-gang 35 mm synchronizer , a 5-gang 35 mm synchronizer (manufacturer unknown), and two(2) CalRad 91-100 Audio Edit sound boxes with 4 hole inputs. I am not an editor and so I have very limited knowledge on how the Moviola operates. The main power cable is missing so I hooked up 110 power that it specifies with a replacement cord. A replacement Hubbell twist lock cord is still available online. But the unit powers up, the electric motor operates, the Picturehead switch operates in forward and reverse. The only thing I noticed was that the Soundhead motor switch doesn't seem to reverse, but then again I don't know how to operate it correctly, but I made sure to shut off the motor between reversals so as not to do any damage. The synchro numbers seem to operate well in forward and reverse. At times using the Soundhead reversal, it powers up slowly, a flick of the switch gets it going more quickly. The unit looks otherwise complete as far as I can tell, even has removable tray and plastic lighting cover, some slight wear to paint. The 2 synchronizers seem to be complete and undamaged, the sound boxes come on when plugged in and volume control goes up. The 5 gang Acmade editing machine pictured is NOT included. There is no expressed or implied warranty, units are sold as is. There is currently another Moviola UC-20-S on eBay, offered Buy It Now for $3500, no other extras and a UL-20-S with reel attachments for $9225 with no extras. Freight shipping is available at extra cost, this unit is very heavy, estimated 85 lbs. These items are being offered here in Albuquerque first due to the growing film industry.
