Perfect for those moving to town or who have a project here. Here at the Halsey/Glendoveer Guesthouse, we have a furnished guestroom opening up now, but you can start a few days later than that if you like. Minimum stays of one month. Single occupancy. Less cost than a guesthouse downtown, but just minutes to downtown by car. The rent lowers to $650/month after the first months stay. Located just 8 miles east of city center and 6 miles from the airport, we are close to the freeway, and on a bus line that goes right downtown. Also, a different bus takes you over to the MAX train line. Probably best for those with a car...and we have plenty of parking. You can drive a few blocks over to the MAX station at 122nd and park in the Park and Ride area for free and take the MAX downtown. Or just drive downtown, which takes about 5 to 10 minutes on the freeway. Nicely furnished room with all utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV and use of kitchen and laundry included. Just steps to Glendoveer, a fabulous huge walking park with trails. The rooms are $750 for a minimum one month stay, single occupancy. No tax. Rent is pro-rated for partial months after the first months stay. An advance reservation is required with a $200 reservation deposit to hold the room. The rent lowers to $650 after the first months stay. Check-in time on day of arrival is 4 pm. Check-out time is 12:00 noon on day of departure. Please no pets. Just bring your suitcase! We offer either a downtown guesthouse with four individually-rented guestrooms OR suburban studio suites, situated in six different locations in Portlands suburbs. Both the guesthouse and the studio suites are totally furnished, down to the linens, and include utilities and everything you need for your extended stay of one month or more here in Portland. Ill describe both below: *The Guesthouse has four individual rooms and caters to people who need to be just blocks from downtown and on a busline going every direction. The guesthouse is safe, clean, quiet and hosted. The rooms are nicely furnished, complete with WiFi and cable TV. There is a fully-equipped shared kitchen and laundry and most of the rooms share bathrooms. Located in the very walkable Hawthorne neighborhood, with tons of shops, pubs and restaurants nearby. The rate is $895 a month. Please see website for details and availability: http://www.portlandhawthorneguesthouse.com and call William at 503-233-1643 with questions during office hours. Single occupancy for all rooms. The next opening is on 8/10, so see studio suites below...OR *The Studio Suites are for people wanting a more private setting, with their own kitchen and bath, and who prefer to be in the suburbs. Best for people with a car, but there is also public transportation servicing all locations. Since the guesthouse is usually full, and doesnt take couples, kids or pets, I made a super special deal with a national chain of mid-tier extended-stay hotels, with five locations here in Portlands suburbs, including Tigard, Hillsboro, Gresham and two in Beaverton...and even one in Vancouver. The special rate is just $995 a month in most of the locations, for the queen bed suites, sleeping up to two people. For more people, there are other suites that have both a king bed (and a sofa sleeper in some locations), as well as a few suites that have two queen beds, with both suite types being slightly more in price. The special rate is up to 35% off their rates found on Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotwire or their main hotel website. And the special rate is 65% off the rates of higher-end extended stay hotels in the area. Minimum stay is one month or more. You can stay less time than that but the price is still $995. You can even pro-rate for partial months after the first months stay. Another great feature is that there are zero taxes to pay. All suite types are in limited supply. ☀Call William at 503-233-1643 during office hours with questions, or to reserve, but please read below as to the general features of an extended-stay hotel, and then I will show the entire list of features of the suites being offered: ☀Extended-stay hotels are hotels that specialize in longer term stays, complete with your own fully-equipped kitchen, freeing yourself from the confines of the average hotel room. They are larger-sized than regular hotel rooms, and all offer total privacy, WiFi, air conditioning, self-laundry facilities, plenty of parking, etc.. They come in two types, with one type being more basic and the other type having extra amenities like shuttle service, gyms, breakfasts, etc.. Basic, mid-tier extended-stay hotels located in the suburbs and offering basic amenities are really the best option for 90% of the people wanting an extended stay of from three weeks to a few months in Portland, and especially for people with a car. The regular price of a basic extended-stay hotel is around $1300 to $1800 a month, depending on the type of room, while the higher-end extended-stay hotels go for $2500 to $3000 and more a month, with the latter being priced similar to an extended-stay apartment. We work with the more basic type of extended-stay hotels....all very very nice, located in the suburbs, and without all the amenities which most people dont need anyway. And because we send them lots of business, we were able to negotiate for you a much lower rate than their already low regular rates. So whether you are an individual, couple, people traveling together, or have kids or pets, all are welcome. Whether you need to check in today or book a future date, call William at 503-233-1643 and I can help you with finding the right location for you and getting the special rate. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ FEATURES OF THE STUDIO SUITES BEING OFFERED: ►The studio suites are 300+ square feet, with an apartment-type style and you can park right next to your unit. Since there are only two levels, your unit will be on either the first or second level. The Queen studio suites have queen-sized beds and club chairs and ottomans. The King studios are a bit larger and have a king bed and a sofa sleeper in most locations. And a few suites have two queen beds. ►Totally furnished and complete with fully-equipped kitchens with refrigerator, stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, plus cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery ►Private bath and closet ►Air conditioned ►Well-lit, ergonomic workspace with a computer dataport and telephone with personalized voicemail. Free local calls ►Wireless Internet - one time nominal fee of $4.99 per entire stay ►Cable TV, including selected premium cable channels ►On-site 24-hour coin-operated guest laundry facilities ►Iron with full-size ironing board ►Complimentary incoming fax ►Copy service ►Outgoing fax services are available for a small fee ►Mail, faxes and packages delivered directly to guest rooms at the end of each business day ►In general, one pet is allowed at a nonrefundable cleaning fee of $150. Call 503-233-1643 for information on the suites and how to get the discount. A perfect solution if you are: * re-locating to Portland and needing transition time to find a permanent place * traveling business professional * travel nurse * on a medical rotation * on an internship * in-between houses * Remodeling your home, needing time away during construction * commuting to the city during the week * extended-stay traveler * on sabbatical * short-term ESL or other short term student Call William at 503-233-1643 and Ill show you how to get the special rate. ycPictures of Studio Suites below Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Gresham, Hillsboro, Vancouver (google map) (yahoo map) Location: Portland, Beaverton, Tigard,Gresham, etcits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |
$450 Beautiful Home, Garden Focused - Sublet from July to October (inner ne) |

I am subletting my upstairs room for four months (July through October). The house is really nice - we have a beautiful garden, three chickens, a workshop with tons of tools, and a big backyard garden. Four of us have been living here, although the house is in transition as two of our super sweet housemates are having a baby and just moved out, and a new housemate is moving in. That leaves two of us here right now - we are in our mid twenties / early thirties, a filmmaker/non-profiteer and designer/carpenter. We’re looking for someone that’s motivated, yet relaxed, queer friendly, clean/tidy, and appreciates good aesthetics. There’s always a project or two going on (like building the backyard studio) and the opportunity for some work trade. The house has always had a good, cohesive, friendly vibe with a healthy balance of independence. People share the occasional meal, chat it up, play music, and garden together, but are also out doing their own thing w/in their busy lives. It’s typically quiet and peaceful with the occasional gathering, potluck, or party.** rent is $450 per month, utilities are extra, but not too much. The room is available between July 1 and October 31, although the dates could be flexible - the house is at williams & dekum. Let us know what you’re all about and what you’re looking for… Location: inner neits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

About you: looking to sublet a room for the month of July, low maintenance housemate, pleasant.About us: vegan, ride bikes, 20somethingThis house has gone through a bundle of transformations from charming polish bungalow to sterile small home to dirty punk house to semi-dirty hipster house. The landlord will be moving back at the end of july so I will be cleaning the whole house during the month. Its been a few years since shes been back and ive got quite a bit of work to do. You neednt help clean the house up, just do your part in keeping it clean. The house has a whole lot of idiosyncrasies perhaps most notable is the bathroom. There is a greywater collection bucket under the sink (the toilet also flushes). The shower, oh the shower. The shower in the bathroom has no water pressure. Baths are ok in there (and quite nice actually) but showering is done in the basement. There is basically just a shower head mounted on the wall with a curtain around it. Its actually quite nice in the summer months, but definitely not lavish. There also is only a tiny fridge in the kitchen. Like super tiny. The rent will be $290 which will include all utilities. Rent must be paid with enough time to deposit on the last day of the month that the bank is open (auto-deducted on the 1st).Send along a bit about yourself, your situation and why you want to sublet a room in a semi-dirty (soon to not be), janky yet charming vegan house.Any questions just ask.I will be away until early july, so the other housemate will coordinate meeting up and showing you the place Location: NE 24th and Skidmoreits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

☀Your two minute guide to extended stays in Portland (Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Gresham) |
Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Gresham |
|
2009-06-27 10:11AM |
|
* Are you getting mixed up trying to figure out your extended-stay housing alternatives in Portland or just not understanding the options available to you? * Making lots of calls leading to dead-ends? * Looking for the best or lowest cost options? I am a local travel agent and consultant and in this short but informative guide, I will address the above and save you time and money in your search for your extended stay (1 month or more) here in Portland. It will only take two minutes and being armed with this knowledge will make you a much smarter shopper in making the right choice for your extended stay here in Portland. There are basically four options for you to choose from for your extended stay here. I will list them, with the pros and cons of each, along with the ways to find them. All of course are fully furnished, down to the linens, and including utilites, WiFi, TV, either in-unit or on-site laundry and no taxes to pay! ☀Extended Stay Hotels-- Probably your best alternative here in Portland for 90% of people for stays of from three weeks to a few months. Suites come complete with your own fully-equipped kitchen, freeing yourself from the confines of the average hotel room. They offer total privacy and feature larger-sized rooms than regular hotel rooms, and include bathroom, WiFi, air conditioning, self-laundry facilities, plenty of parking and much more. For individuals, couples, kids and pets. They come in many different hotel brands and price ranges, depending on location and amenites. If you have a car, I recommend this one, with six locations around the citys suburbs, and have negotiated a super special rate with them which is not much more than a guesthouse room. To learn about it and get this special rate see: http://www.postlets.com/rts/2281709☀Guesthouse Rooms-- A relatively new and very viable alternative. A low-cost option, with prices ranging from $750 to $900, depending on location. Generally catering to individuals and offered in a hosted setting. You get your own bedroom and share the kitchen, laundry room and oftentimes bathroom. While not totally private, it allows you to interact with people from all walks of life. You can find them here on Craigslist, with one example being: http://www.portlandhawthorneguesthouse.com☀Furnished Apartments, Condos, & Whole Houses-- A viable option, albeit the most expensive one, upwards of $3,000 a month. Appeals to people who want to be right downtown or who want more square footage than an extended stay hotel offers. Large companies specialize in this option, especially apartments, but you can also find individual owners renting out condos and whole houses at better prices than that of the large providers, but for the latter it takes a lot of searching to find one, especially for the dates you are seeking. To find one, look for corporate housing directories such as http://www.corporatehousingbyowner.com/ or here on Craigslist ☀Sublets-- The lowest cost option, but also the hardest to arrange and come with many negatives. What you are looking for is someone who is vacating their place for awhile and needing someone to live there. It could be one room in a house, a whole apartment or even a whole house. While cost effective, they are oftentimes hard to book, since your dates must coincide with availability and they generally want you to be there for the entire time they are gone. Another drawback is that you have to live amongst the stuff of other people, and in the case of room sublets, with other long term people you dont know. They also usually want to meet you first, which can be hard to do if you are coming from out of the city. You will oftentimes have your background checked. In effect, you have to apply and there are usually tons of applicants. Finally, they often want you to take care of pets or plants. These too are available here on Craigslist, or on http://www.sublet.com Find a perfect solution if you are: * re-locating to Portland and needing transition time to find a permanent place * traveling business professional * travel nurse * on a medical rotation * on an internship * in-between houses * Remodeling your home, needing time away during construction * commuting to the city during the week * extended-stay traveler * on sabbatical * short-term ESL or other short term student a+ Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Gresham, Vancouver (google map) (yahoo map) Location: Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Greshamits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

The Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse -------------------------------------- Want to be just blocks from downtown and save a ton of money vs. the cost of an extended stay apartment? Stay as long as you need, with a minimum of 30 days. Due to a cancellation we have a room available now and on July 2nd. Single occupancy for all rooms. If these dates dont work for you we also have studio suites available in the suburbs for $995 with private kitchen and bath. This is not a sublet, so you wont have to meet the date requirements that sublets have, requiring you to be out when they return from their trip or to be there the entire time of their trip. Also, you wont have to apply amongst tons of applicants. Other drawbacks of sublets are having to live with all their stuff and with their friends if it is a room sublet. They require that you meet first and be thoroughly vetted and oftentimes having to take care of their plants or pets. The Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse is perfect for those moving to town or who have a project here or another reason for an extended stay in Portland. The location doesnt get much better than this! Only 1 mile to downtown. For years now, we have offered a safe, quiet, comfortable hosted guesthouse FOR STAYS OF 30 DAYS OR LONGER and very very close to downtown. Move in date July 1st. I just bought a house and am moving out of my apartment June 30th. I have all of july and all of august left on my lease. I am looking for someone to take over my lease for the remaining 2 months. My rent is 950 and the market rent is 1195. If you do decide to sign another lease it should only go up about 50-75 dollars. You are always able to negotiate with the office. The apartment is a 2 bed room and 2 bath. There is a walk in closet in the master bedroom as well as a nice oval tub. The apartment is 1136sq ft. with a nice covered patio that has a railing. It is on the bottom floor with very good neighbors above. I have actually had NO problems with them. It has its own separate laundry room off of the kitchen. Plenty of storage!!! The apartment is \"as is\". I will be cleaning the floors/ carpets as well as the rest of the home. There is no damage to the apartment. It is a very clean and spacious place to call home. Requirements: Applicant must apply with apartment complex, Seneca Village and pay for any application fees that are required as well as additional deposits. Applicant must also pay a 175 dollar fee to transfer the apartment. Rent amount of 950 dollars is due on July 1st or prior to moving in. There is a 300 dollar deposit that will be staying with the apartment. When applicant moves out the deposit (if any) will go to them. Please email me or call at 503-841-8596 if interested. Hey there; So I have a two bed/two bath place that I share with my 5 year old son. Its located in Aloha, very nice neightborhood, SAFE, with parks close by. Theres a couple of bus stops, not sure which ones since I dont ride the bus :O), and the Max stop about 4 blocks away. The room is your average single size room with really neat cornered big windows. Not your typical single room set up!!!! Theres a storage room in the \"patio\" that is empty and you would be more than free to use if you like.... Theres a XL washier and dryer in the unit and neightbors are really nice and QUIET!!!! Not to mention you get your own bathroom. Looking for someone responsable, respectfull, friendly and pays bills on time without the need of any coaxing from me :O) I only have one child and would like to keep it that way LOL If youre a female...even better!!!!!!!!!!!! Please feel free to contact me if youre interested so that we can set up a time to meet and see if the \"vibe\" is right. No worries, my son is really friendly and quiet. Has a bed time and with me being at work during the day and him at the sitters, you would barely see us. Unless ofcourse you want to chat or have late dinner OR movies once my sons in bed. I would like it if you would be interested in perhaps becoming friends, rather than just roommates and perhaps hang out from time to time. But not a requirement :O) I understand times are though so we can def. work something out with the whole move in fees....Rent is $400 plus only utilities are garbage, bout $20 a month, and electricity...got a super deal on cable/internet as well!!! K so hope to hear from you soon!!! And please only contact me if youre really interested on meeting and looking at room. Although I enjoy meeting new people, Im serious about finding a roommie. Therefore please dont waste your time nor mine...and a simple \"Thank you, but no longer interested/found something else\" is highly appreciated. Hope not to sound like a grouch, just havent had the best experiences so far with people 206 (google map) (yahoo map) Location: Aloha/Hillsboro/Beaverton/Wa. Great room for sublet during July 1st 2009 through August 31st 2009This is a RE-Post with Pictures because many of you wanted pictures so here they are. Also we are very intent on renting the room for Both months.Rent is $371.25 and utilities turn out to be around $50 a month during this time frame. The room is located in a four bedroom house on Peacock lane in SE Portland. If you are not familiar with this area it is very nice and location is wonderfully placed at 39th and Stark. Nearby you will find Laurelhurst Park, 2.5 blocks, Belmont area 7 blocks away and Hawthorne is about 13 blocks, and Mt. Tabor is about 25 blocks away. There is Zupan’s, and Fred Meyers within 15 blocks and plenty of bars and restaurants on Hawthorne, Belmont, and Stark all with in walking/stumbling distance. The house has a small back yard with a garden and shrubbery, small front yard with bushes as well. I mention this because it will be necessary for the candidate to be able and willing to help out with yard-work, the garden is optional but trimming bushes and mowing is a must but shared among four people. Cleanliness is also a must but we are not OCD. The house has wi-fi, two bathrooms, a basement, an unattached garage for storage, and a hammock in the backyard. No one in the house owns a car so there is good parking either in the driveway or on the street. All the roommates are veg but that is their personal beliefs and we all share pans and utensilsThe cat is sweet but does not mix well with other animals, so please no other animals. The cat actually lives in the room for sublet but will be staying in another room at the time so you will not have to share the room or take care of the cat. The cat will be around so if you have an aversion to cats at all I don’t recommend this room. The room has a queen size bed, bedding is not included, a medium size dresser, a desk and small closet like area. There is also an adjoining room but that will be used as storage by me, the bedroom is ample. I also have a nice desktop pc that we could work out a deal for your use if needed. Room is clean and tidy and I would like it to be kept in the same manner to a certain degree, just don’t be a slob. If you’re a hardcore pothead I don’t think it will fly, casual smoking is fine within the room, maybe elsewhere but check with roommates first. Sorry nothing harder than pot. No ciggs in the house, outside sure but clean up the butts. Alcohol is fine but moderation is the key, roommates are not heavy drinkers but occasionally indulge. Not too many parties happening. Roommate ages range from 23-28 but all are welcome. Please have a job or are independently wealthy. If this sounds good call or email and we can setup meet and greets. If you have any questions or if I left anything out please let me know. Anybody is welcome to apply but realistically if you have been described as far-right and opinionated, redneck, druggie, alcoholic, closed-minded, cruel, pill-popper, physical, hot-tempered, bigoted, smelly (after work is normal, all day everyday not so much) or crazy (in the medical or legal sense) should not waste their time. Thanks for looking and I look forward to hearing from you! Location: Peacock lane (39th and Stark)its NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

I have a large 3 story Tudor home in the Piedmont/Mississippi Avenue neighborhood of North Portland. It is a block away from Peninsula Park (the oldest rose garden in Portland – a great place for dogs and people); walking distance from New Seasons and Max line downtown (just 10 minutes!). Super close to PCC cascade. The room for rent is on the main floor with a shared full bath, full closet, built in shelves, 2 large windows and is furnished. The price does include all utilities among which are DSL, basic cable and a very high tech security system. Your shared spaces are truly beautiful with antiques, lead-glass windows, hardwood floors and a recently remodeled kitchen with slate floors, weathered copper sink and Pratt & Larsen tile backsplash. About me: I am an executive level manager at a local nonprofit, I am 38 years old, quiet, respectful, very clean and vegetarian, non-smoker with 3 dogs. That may sound like a lot of dogs but they are small, 8 lbs., medium 22 lbs and bigger 49 lbs – very well mannered and kept primarily with me at all times. I enjoy watching movies I get from Netflix, NPR, reading and hiking. About the other tenants: happy, creative and in their 20s - two women. One stays on the basement floor and the other rents the upstairs room. About you: I would like a professional, female in their late 20-30’s who is very tidy, non-smoker, likes pets, and is relatively happy and independent with a great credit history. If you are interested in this room, please do contact me and ask questions! I hope to rent starting this month, June 2009. The room requires a $150 security deposit. I have pictures of the room Im happy to email. N. Mississippi Avenue at N Holman Avenue (google map) (yahoo map) Location: N. We are looking for a roommate from now until until mid-August. The room is a basement room, which is nice because it stays cool in the summer, unlike the rest of the house. It pretty much looks like it does in the pictures except doesnt have that hanging window thing and stuff is moved around. It comes with a futon mattress, a chair, one or two bookshelves and maybe a table. It does have a couple of small problems. One is the metal thing in the middle of the room, but its just unsightly, it doesnt make any noise. And maybe you like the industrial look? It also has no door, but it has a curtain and is in a secluded part of the basement so no one who lived there has minded. The house is located on fancy Reed College Place and is close to the 19 and 75 buses. Not including you, there are 5 people that live in the house. We are all in our early 20s and most of us go to Reed College. There are two girls and three boys and right now we have a guy crashing on the couch for a while. The house is about as clean as youd expect for a 6 person house, but we keep the kitchen clean and do our best with the rest of the house. Despite the large number of people the house stays pretty quiet. While none of us are huge meat-eaters, if youre one of those people who faints at the sight of bacon, this might not be the house for you. We have one old man cat (who is not allowed in the basement) and two chickens. I would strongly prefer if you did not have any pets. The rent is $250 a month plus utilities which are usually less than $50. We have wireless internet and a washer and dryer. Rent for June would be due immediately along with a $200 refundable security deposit. Rent for August would be $125. Email or call Josie at 512 626 8208 if you are interested. Room for rent in 1 bedroom apartment from June 1st until August 31st. You MUST love animals, especially dogs, because I have between 2-4 living here for most of the times. I also have a cat, who is actually a permanent resident. I am an animal rescuer, so the dogs generally dont stay for long. The two I am currently caring for are absolutely wonderful and easy to live with. These dogs have usually been put through a lot of BS before they came to me, so I am really hoping for someone who has a calm and gentle energy around animals. I set them up with calming music, which is played for them nearly all day. I am hoping for someone who feels he or she will resonate well with the music played here... you are more than welcome to play your own music too, if it is calming for the dogs... I am totally open to sharing but it doesnt work well here to play two different songs at once. Rent is $365 including utilities. I do require a $300 deposit as well. If you do not have rent by the 1st, then you will pay a $10 late fee. If you do not have rent by the 15th, then you will have 2 weeks notice... no exceptions. I do have trust issues with people coming over, but have had a few roommates in the past who have had friends that I had grown to trust. Now that we got all that out of the way... the animals and I are a pleasure to live with. We are very quiet and keep to ourselves.... but do enjoy some social interaction periodically. If you are quiet, responsible, honest, and love to smile, then I believe you will enjoy this home. This is a drug and alcohol free home, and we do prefer to keep it that way. Please feel free to contact me via email if you wish to see the place and, if nothing else, to meet a good friend. Thank you for reading... ~Dawn 29th Ave (google map) (yahoo map) Location: Inner NE Portlandits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

I will be moving in November late October into my home as i am getting married. I am looking for someone to start out by couching, and after the 4 months you will have your own room. All expenses are included in 250.00 a month rent. I have the internet at lightning speed, T.V/ Digital Cable/ Swimming Pool, work out center, and tanning bed. I have two other roomates who are very likeable, and will be staying as I start my new life with my wife and kids. I will be starting the process of meeting individuals as soon as possible. Remember it is only temporary being on the couch. I have plenty of storage for your stuff if you need to put it somewhere. I will put pictures up later of the apartment. All I ask is you be honest and mature when you contact me about this posting. I already have two kids so please be a mature adult. Also this is an upscale apartment community, so you will need to pass a background check. This is an awssome deal when it comes to having a roof over your head so dont let this pass you by if you need a place to crash that is very inexpensive.Thank You for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you. Were open to all types and ages, just as long as we all seem like a good fit. The room is available today, and we are flexible on the range of duration on the sublet. Light, peaceful and spacious classic craftsman bungalow with permaculturally designed landscape full of fruits, vegetables, and berries. We have a room open for a temporary one month sublet for someone who is clean, considerate, and responsible, and who can live with people who meditate, eat meat, and sometimes have a potluck, in a house with no television in common areas, no pets and no smoking. If this sounds like your kind of place, get in touch and we can see if theres a mutual fit. The house has hardwood floors on the main level and high ceilings, a fireplace, dining room and additional breakfast nook off the kitchen. The kitchen has all you need to create amazing foods. There is a peaceful and private deck and garden area in the back with built-in benches, a patio with a fire pit, and a hot tub. We share a yoga/meditation space and high speed internet with wireless access. There’s some shared art/office space in the partially finished basement and a washer and dryer. The room is available now. Its upstairs and has a high ceiling, a closet, carpet, and a big picture window that opens up on both sides. Some furnishings are available if desired. The rent is $395 for the month and includes all utilities. Housemates are progressive, friendly, and independent, and include students and teachers of Buddhism, music and environmental education. Age range of housemates is diverse. We sometimes share meals and have occasional pot-luck dinners with friends. Some of the things that we enjoy are baking, kombucha brewing, and music. The house has a 2-male:3-female ratio. Our home is in a friendly residential neighborhood in outer inner southeast, very close and convenient to Mt. Tabor, OCOM (College of Oriental Medicine), Fubon, the Hawthorne/Belmont districts and public transportation (Belmont bus #15, Green, Blue, and Red MAX lines). Were a short walk from a couple of cafes and an international foods market and just a mile from the East Portland Community Center, where you can swim and take Nia and yoga classes for a few dollars. Im looking to move closer to work for the summer, and I will be leaving a room available in my house in Sellwood for June, July, and August. If you can only rent for a month or two and not all three, thats fine too, I just need someone who can cover June right now. Some of my current housemates will still be there and Ill be coming by to hang out a lot so I want someone who is going to be a good replacement. Rent is $490 a month, though Id be able to pitch in 20 or 30 bucks if you could commit by tomorrow, and utilities only usually run at about $30 a month. We are all college students of mixed ages, but a really nice crowd. The house itself has four bedrooms, wireless internet, a dishwasher, and you would be welcome to use any of the dishes in the kitchen. Its in an awesome location, really close to several bus lines that go straight downtown, restaurants, grocery stores, and only a few blocks from the river. We ask that you are a non-smoker (inside at least), dont come with any pets, and are generally drama free and respectful of the other people youre living with (not too much to ask!) As I said earlier, Id be able to pay a little bit on the rent if you were able to commit to the room before June 1st. The person I thought would be replacing me hasnt been in contact to confirm and anyone paying some of the rent tomorrow would help me out a lot! Let me know if youre interested! Welcome to the Inn at Marquam Hill. Hosts Michael and Leslie Watson invite you to visit them at the Inn at Marquam Hill to experience the personal service and friendly atmosphere of your “home away from home” in Portland, Oregon. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood within easy walking distance of Oregon Health Sciences University, the Veterans Hospital, Casey Eye Clinic, Shriner’s Hospital and Doernbecher Hospital for Children, as well as other medical and scientific facilities on The Hill, the Inn is just a short drive from all the excitement and nightlife that downtown Portland has to offer. The newly completed “Tram” at OHSU provides convenient transportation to additional medical, scientific, dining and recreational facilities located along the South Waterfront and connects to Tri-Met bus, lightrail, and street car services throughout the city. And for our guests that enjoy the great outdoors, the Inn is surrounded by wilderness parks and more than forty miles of hiking trails; all within a short walking distance of our front door. The Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse -------------------------------------- Want to be just blocks from downtown and save a ton of money vs. the cost of an extended stay apartment? Stay as long as you need, with a minimum of 30 days. We have rooms coming available on 6/26, 7/15, 8/4 and call for availability on Room 2. Single occupancy for all rooms. We are in the wonderfully eclectic Hawthorne neighborhood, right next to downtown, and right on 3 frequent service buslines. Nicely furnished rooms with all utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV and use of kitchen and laundry included. Single occupancy. The Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse---see website at: http://www.PortlandHawthorneGuesthouse.com/ You get your own furnished, bright room, linens, use of the kitchen, and with Wi-Fi and washer/dryer included. This is not a sub-let, so you dont have to live amongst someone elses stuff, meet their time constraints, take care of their yard or pets or have to meet them first! Features: --Great location....right next to downtown...just a short hop to downtown by bus or car. Call Enterprise at 503-230-1212 611 E. Burnside St. --Please no in-house smokers, partiers or pets. --Stress free living at its best! Just bring your suitcase! The rooms are $895 for a minimum one month stay, single occupancy. Rent is pro-rated for partial months after the first months stay. Portland--various areas |

|
Portland Guesthouse Directory ------------------------------- Guesthouses offer a very viable alternative for stays of one to three months. Average stay is two months. They generally cater to singles and sometimes couples. They offer a low-cost alternative to extended-stay apartments and extended-stay hotels. A guesthouse can have but one or as many as five guestrooms. Utilities of course included. You get full use of the kitchen and laundry room, as well as Wi-Fi being included. Complete with nicely furnished rooms with linens and towels. Some with private bathrooms, most with shared bathrooms. In a guesthouse setting you give up a little privacy, but you get a low cost way to stay for periods of one month or longer. They cater mostly to people re-locating to the city and needing time to situate themselves, and to people with a project here, as well as commuters, travel nurses, interns, medical rotations, longer term travelers, etc.. And they come complete with a host, usually the guesthouse owner, who can help you with knowing the city and getting around. And instead of being by yourself, you get to interact with tenants from all over the world. And because the stay is a month or longer, there are no taxes to pay! Your home away from home. Just bring your suitcase!! Here are some examples of guesthouses in the Portland area: --Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse -- Close-in to downtown, cable TV in all five guestrooms, WiFi, safe, quiet, comfortable, on three buslines, on-street parking, single occupancy, $895/month, and a discount for stays over three months. See website for availability: http://www.PortlandHawthorneGuesthouse.com 503-233-1643 --Halsey/Glendoveer Guesthouse -- 7 miles to downtown, cable TV, two guestrooms, both with cable TV, WiFi, on and off-street parking, single occupancy, best for people with a car. $750/month. 503-257-9717 --Guesthouse at SE Clay Street -- The heart of Hawthorne area. One guestroom, on busline, single occupancy, women preferred, $895/month MissRhinnan@comcast.net -----------------------------------------------------------If you would like to start a guesthouse of your own, catering to high-end people seeking stays of from one to three months, and eventually be added to this directory, contact me by replying to the email at the top of this post. a+ Location: Portland--various areasits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

My roommate and I are looking to fill our upstairs master suite in our new rental. Your sublease would start as soon as possible and go through July, possibly through mid August at the latest; were somewhat flexible. You get the roughly 30 foot by 12 foot skylighted finished upstairs for 550 a month plus 1/3 utilities (prorated for the time you are around), plus respectful use of all our furnishings and kitchenware/communal stuff. You will get tons of space and more storage is available to you in our large basement. The house is extremely well maintained and has newer appliances, hardwoods everywhere, clawfoot tub, private backyard, bike/tool shed and parking in front. Awesome location right off Salmon and Lincoln bike corridors, two blocks from Albina Press, The Sapphire Hotel, Apizza Scholls, Bar of the Gods, Por que no? etc. Were like a 5 min. bike ride to Belmont, Division, and Clinton. Walking distance to Mt. Tabor Park and about 20 min to downtown by bike, bus or car.The spot would be ideal for summer interns, students, or those looking for temporary housing - anyone whos in between places for the summer, and looking for space to store their stuff. We are two respectful, outdoorsy, clean and employed guys in our early twenties, just a year out of college. Our only real deal breaker is that we cannot allow smoking (even just outside, sorry this is in our lease). You would sign a sub-lease; price might be negotiable for the right person who fits well into our timeframe and appears to be a great roommate. You are subject to the approval of our landlord and proof of employment/funding. 1636 se 52nd ave at SE Hawthrone (google map) (yahoo map) Location: SE Hawthrone and 16thits NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |

we are fairly communal people... artists, farmers, engineers, techies, carpenters, sociologist... our age range is 25 to 29. there is 5 of us in all in a big house. we are a corner lot with a great front porch. the room to sublet has a full closet, sturdy desk, queen bed, and persian rug. there is a workshop in the shed, washer, dryer, makeshift theater in the basement for films, work area in the basement, two living rooms, two bathrooms, and a compost pile. we do alot of our own gardening and enjoy each others company a few times a week. if any or all of that sounds like somthing you could commit to for three months this summer as well as being ten minutes from downtown by bike then the room is yours. its a larger room with a nice breeze and shade for the summer. look forward to hearing from you. This is a great apartment. Everyone who has stayed here has loved it, I am sure you will love it too. Here is why;The location could not be better. Within 8 blocks there are 12 bus lines, 2 MAX Train lines, Lloyd Center Mall, 2 movie theatres, the Rose Garden, the Convention Center, tons of good ethnic restaraunts, multiple grocery stores and coffee shops, 2 parks, and a few bars. Everything is within walking distance and you are still just a 5 minute bike ride to downtown. 8 minutes to PSU, 10 minutes to OHSU. The apartment itself sits in a great spot. It is on a quiet side street with little traffic. Parking is free and easy. It is the corner unit of a one story buildingl. No upstairs or downstairs neighbors. There is a small patio in front. The unit faces east and south so you get sun all day long. There are lots of windows and you have your own entrance. Inside is about 800 square feet. There is a living room, kitchen (gas stove, fridge), bedroom, and bathroom. The layout is very comfortable with separation from room to room. It is appropriate for one person or a couple. There are some furnishings (bed, couch, table, chairs, lamps, microwave, kitchen stuff, etc.) that you are welcome to use. There is also a washer and dryer downstairs.$895 per month + utilities (gas and electric) + $300 refundable security deposit. I am flexible on duration of stay. No pets. No smoking. Please call me with questions and if you want to see the apartment. The Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse --------------------------------------Want to be just blocks from downtown and save a ton of money vs. the cost of an extended stay apartment? Stay as long as you need, with a minimum of 30 days. We have rooms coming available on 6/8 and 6/26 and 7/15. Single occupancy for all rooms. The location doesnt get much better than this! we just bought a house, we are scheduled to go to guatemala over the summer, we cant afford paying the mortgage while working for free in another country. we need some people to rent out until we can get back and find long-term roommates. If you wanted to keep living there, or need it for more time, that is completely possible. the room its self is not furnished, but the rest of the house will be. new appliances (stove, dishwasher, disposal, micro, fridge, washer/dryer), bamboo floors, excellent locationwe are two vegans in our 20s. we dont care if youre vegan, as long as no one is a jerk about eating preferences. a friend of ours will be staying there taking care of the place (i think hes vegan too.. maybe vegetarian). he is a laid back sort of guy with a rather angry cat. so it would be best if you dont have any animals, unless its a really submissive cat. The rooms:700/850: The entire upstairs. This includes a private bath with a jacuzzi tub, and the space just outside of the room at the top of the stairs (which could be an ideal office). The prices are listed for a singe/couple.550: Room on the main floor. This room is between the bathroom and stairs, not the kitchen, so it should be quiet. good sized room with decent closet. We will also be sharing utilities. The house has a new heating system, water heater, and windows, so costs should be manageable. we havent signed the papers yet, but are in the final days of a very ridiculous process. we should know the exact date of move in in a couple days, but it should be around the 27th. we would like someone to move in by the 15th of june. unless you need a place by the 1st, we will probably make appointments for right after we move in, since you cant really see the house right now anyways. heres more pictures, from when we looked at the house: http://s720.photobucket.com/albums/ww209/cblaking/contact us if you are interested 17th (google map) (yahoo map) cats are OK - purrr Location: alberta and 17its NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests |
