I am selling my 1978 Tri Hull Imperial Boat. It has a Volvo Penta 170 6 cylinder engine and a volvo penta 280 outdrive ( I believe, 99% sure I know its a volvo penta and pretty sure on the # just havent checked it). It has been in the family for about 20 years so I know pretty much everything there is to know about the boat. Currently it has not been run for 4 years. Right before we stopped using it it had brand new interior, which now needs some work on the wood frames because we did not replace them all and did not use marine plywood (should have originally). The interior vinyl is okay and could be reused. Just cut out the new frames and staple the old fabric on. The engine if gone through should start and run just fine, but needs new belts, hoses, ect because of how long it has been sitting. Like I said it was running when we parked it. We parked it because the upper housing on the outdrive gears stripped. We tore it down and bought brand new matched gears for it (which I have) and then never put it back together. The gears alone are worth $500 new. It has a brass prop also on it, not a cheap aluminum. I could part this boat out for more money then I could ever get whole but just do not have the time or energy. I have other projects going one. The major reason we are selling it is that we have a disabled son that we are getting a service dog for, and need the money to go to Ohio and get trained on handling the dog. Otherwise I would hold on to it and fix it myself this year or next year. I have not in any way tried to clean it up, and as you can see it has a flat tire, and it does have a spare. No misrepresentation here, it is literally you see what you get. If you have the time to fix it this should be a pretty good boat, always been solid for our family with very few problems until the gears stripped. The parts are readily available because it is a volvo penta. This is a BEST OFFER, if I like it I will take it on the spot, if not I may hold off but it will sell by middle of July no matter what!!!! This engine started as a non running, beat up ugly old kicker engine. We completely broke it down into pieces, completely hand sanded the parts, primered and repainted everything. All internal parts are brand new. The carb was rebuilt, new impeller, new seals, new twist clamps, all new gaskets. No cost was spared during this restore. This engine is like new, and will last you 50 years if you maintain it properly. I know the price is high, but I cannot even begin to explain to you the very long and hard hours of work that went into this. 6 full coats of paint on each piece, with clear coat. The colors are ideal for the Beaver Fan! yes.. I am a die hard Beaver fan. if this engine is a bit much for you, I have tons of 5.5 and 6hp powerheads, parts, and housings. We can build one for you, or sell you all the parts you would need to build one the way you would like. If you would like a custom painted and built kicker motor we have all the recourses to build one for you that you like. The time involved building one is not quick.
