Japanese circa 1900 pair of pure silver vases. The pair of silver vases have the design of birds in a bamboo grove. The birds have gold inlaid detailing and some of the bamboo has bronze inlaid detailing. The chiseling and inlaid detailing work is expertly and beautifully done. The bottom of each vase is stamped JUNGIN, pure silver and also has the name SEI, probably the artist who made the silver vases. In addition each vase is stamped with the name HATTORI, a famous japanese producer of silver articles Each vase measures 12\" tall, 17\" around at the widest and 10\" around the top rim. Each vase weighs 3.25 Lbs. Similar vases have sold in London for $20,000 each. We are offering these vases at this reduced price as they are not in mint condition, understandable since they are 100+ years old. However they are in very good shape are are quite beautiful. These vases were brought to the US shortly after WWII by my father. We inherited them, and since we have no children, we would like to see them go to someone who has an appreciation for fine art.
