I have acquired this steady rest along with some other things. The steady rest will not fit my lathe so I have no use for it. My best guess is that it is off of a 10 inch South bend lathe. My lathe is a 13 inch and as you can see the center of the steady rest is higher than the tailstock of my lathe. From the flat base to the center of the steady rest is 7.5 inches.Checking prices of other steady rest on e-bay, $75 is a good price for this one. This is an older Essick concrete mixer, not sure how old but it works great. It is an electric mixer with a 1/2 hp motor. It looks to me like it use to be a gas mixer and some one replaced the gasmotor with an electric one. It works fine but, could easily be converted back if some wanted a gas mixer. It has a ton of room for a gas motor to fit. It has concrete on it (of course) and its rusty. Not much to look at but it works, its big and its towable. Here you have offered for your pleasure three vintage builders levels, one from Japan a Sokkisa, built like a tank with a tripod that is even heavier and a metal case to protect it from harm.. A Bostrom with eye shields and tripod and is in usable condition, it has a dovetailed wood case in fine condition. A Sears Craftsman with tripod, eye shield and INSTRUCTIONS in a wooden dovetailed box as well. These are all vintage tools that appear to be in great usable condition with good optics , great tripods, fantastic boxes. I believe you would need to get them adjusted for use and there is only one flaw I can find and that is on the Sokkisha. I cant see the bubble and it could be just me and age. An excellent Kennedy Machinist tool chest 26 3/4\" long, 13 1/2 high 9\" deep, in fine condition, with the felts in place and has been used by me for years for checkering tools and the like. These things cost like the devil if you buy em new. I doubt they still make the 8 drawer unit. It has handles and hinge braces on both ends instead of one. No dings , no dents and the finish is in great condition if not perfect.
