Broke our baler and broke as in no money, please help if you will! Need drive gears and misc parts for a 283 or 1283 New Holland Hayliner Baler or a whole baler, or baler parts from a baler that will interchange, any condition. We are using our neighbors 420 but it need a knotter cam. If that is not bad enough the 31x13.50-15NHS tire is badly separated and with our will blow in the middle of baling. If we could afford new we would not have alfalfa, a used machine would be great but why sell it to us when you can get much more so if you have a parts machine or parts to help us get through this season we would greatly appreciate it and even pay you for the help if need be. According to my father, I was the one that named Spot and Flair...but whether this is just family lore, or a true fact, nobody knows for sure. The entry below is from the ABOUT WALLOWA COUNTY book that I have posted about in previous blogs. I hope you enjoy it! Spot: The Biggest of the Big Horns, by Jane RohlingNovember 19, 1971, five Rocky Mountain bighorn rams and fifteen ewes from Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada, were released in the Lostine River Canyon.They wintered nearby, then moved south along Hurricane Divide, to summer in high-elevation basins. So began a seasonal migration that kept the sheep in excellent habitat. Combined with geneticstock known to produce large sheep, the herd was destined to produce legendary rams.In the spring of 1972, ODFW biologist Vic Coggins located one of three bighorn lambs who survived the first breeding year. This lamb was later nicknamed Spot, for a white spot in the center of his throat.By 1977 the Lostine herd was doing so well that some of the sheep were trapped and transplanted to other areas. Limited hunting for ramsbegan in 1978. Four years later, Coggins and Jim Warrener were conducting a survey of bighorn sheep and mountain goats in the Hurricane Creek drainagewhen they spotted ten rams, Spot among them. He had the largest horns, more than a full curl with \"broomed\" tips coming up well past the bridge of his nose.(Brooming is when a rams horns get so long they block his vision, and the ram grinds their tipsagainst rocks and shatters the tips.) At this time, Spot had no scars on his face.For the next several years, ODFW conducted an annual trapping and transplanting program on the Lostine Range. This gave biologists frequent contact with the sheep, and they were able to keep an eye on Spot and another outstanding ram nicknamed Flare (for his flaring horns). Both survived the hunting seasons through 1986, eluding 56 tag holders. At one point, there was a plot to poach Spot but was thwarted by OSP, the ODFW, and volunteers.Spot and the Lostine rams became favorite subjects for many wildlife photographers, who gave him a new nickname, Scarface, for damage to the bridge of his nose and his right eye, from fighting.The last time Coggins saw Spot alive was in April 1985, during a deer survey on a ridge east of the Lostine River. Spot, nearly thirteen and almost blind, was still a magnificent ram.In November 1986, all by 34 of an estimated 120 in the Lostine herd died from bacterial pneumonia. All rams more than 4 years of age died, but Spot wasnt among the sick or dead sheep biologists located. There have been reports of a large dead ram in Ice Lake that October, but it was never found. Later investigation revealed that a Washington college student had taken the rams head and kept it thru the winter. OSP and USFW officers recovered the head, which was Spots. Elvin Hawkins and Coggins scored Spots horns in 1987, at 202, larger than the former US record ram, a 200 pointer from Wyomings Wind River Range. Boone and Crockett judges scored Spot officially in 1989, giving him 198 7/8 points. Rios Family A peek at Cindis worldStorm at Wallowa LakeMonday, November 12, 2007, Veterans Day, brought about a wind storm that wont soon be forgotten in Wallowa County, or the whole state of Oregon for that matter!The storm started off with just a little bit of wind first thing in the morning and then just accelerated quickly. While I was sitting inside our home in Enterprise, looking up at the sky, I was surprised to see the skies so black that it looked as if it was almost nightfall.We received numerous calls from Clients that were staying at Wallowa Lake for the long weekend, all in a panic. Trees were snapping off, falling over exposing huge rootballs, wind gusts, and power lines down.Most made a quick retreat home, some were slower out of the gates and then had to stay a little bit longer because a tree had fallen across the road making leaving impossible.For pictures, check out our photo gallery.The weather has cooperated the rest of this week, luckily, and we are busy doing a yard clean up and removing trees where needed. Her father got out of the car, walked a few feet, returned to the car, and drove that distance, repeating this until they reached the Grande Ronde River and the safety of home. Myrtle never liked to use any of the roads after this incident.If you have ever taken this Powwatka Ridge Road, you will fully appreciate this story.
