I am hoping that folks in Oregon have a greater appreciation for good horses than folks in Montana do. Unfortunately, due to family reasons, we have Banjo up for sale. Banjos AQHA registered name is Black Banjo Jay, his AQHA registration number is 3392498, and his foal date was 07/18/1995 so he will turn 14 in July. He stands 15.2hh. Banjo was born near Winnett, MT on a Quarter Horse ranch and kept there and started until he was 3. He was then purchased by a woman in Idaho where he was used as an arena horse and as her rodeo queen horse. In that capacity he carried flags and ran back calves and steers and whatever else you see them do when you are at a rodeo. He was subjected to being hauled around and loud crowds. Our family purchased him several years ago.I make my living as a farrier and starting and training horses. Banjo is my favorite horse to ride on our place and I have been riding him for a year now. I have used him for ranch work, moved and worked cows in an alley, moved pairs out of the mountains, and trail rode hundreds of miles on him. I have ridden him as far as 22 miles in one day over extremely rocky terrain and narrow, slippery, steep trails. I was going to start roping off of him this summer but that arrangement has now been put on hold. I have thrown a rope off of Banjo with no problems but I have never roped any livestock from him. You can not ride Banjo for a month or a year and just saddle him up and go. This horse has never bucked or ran off. Banjo is solid black and has no white anywhere on him and is quite the looker. He has very solid black feet and when I trim and shoe him I do not tie him up or have anybody hold him. He stands there and lets me do my job and is a farriers dream. I had a gal take him last week and use him in a drill team and though he had never done that before he did great!Banjo will do a variety of things and can fit in about anywhere. He can be used on a ranch or feed lot, be a trail / pleasure horse, or I think he would do awesome as a 4-H or gaming horse. Dont let his age fool you! Banjo is far from a dead head and has many years of get up and go left in his tank. His walk is smooth and you can ride this horse comfortably for hours on end. His trot and lope float and are very graceful. His frame and his ride are definitive of the Zann Par Bar in his pedigree. If you open this guy up to a run, hold on because he is fast and the TB comes right on out.I really do not want this horse to go but we are forced. We purchased him for $1200 more than we are selling him for and he is an absolute steal at $2000. Do not let this guy pass you by! This horse has grown too tall for me and he is still growing. Gentle big guy that always comes to you when entering pasture. Stands for trimming, shoeing and clipping. Trailers easily and has lots of traveling miles recently. He will be four on July 3 and he is registered with TWHBEA. Willing to go but very manageable for any rider with some experience. This girl is beautiful....she will make some gorgeous babies who should be big and athletic like her. Pictures do not do her justice, everyone comments what a good looking mare she is. Cow bred, was started on gaming (and doing very well) when she was diagnosed navicular in one foot, so I have not pursued her training.
