While it is true that most of the surviving swing orchestras recorded for Capitol at one time or another, they were often either past their prime or merely going through the motions in revisiting the past during these performances. An impressive array of bands is heard on a few songs apiece including Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Freddy Martin and even Kay Kyser and Guy Lombardo (along with the Artie Shaw ghost band of 1968, Glen Gray, Les Brown, Woody Herman, Ray Anthony, and Charlie Barnet)...those into nostalgia might be tempted, even though the original recordings are very much available.
