EXPERIENCE: Five to Eight years of experience in the field or in a related area, or 12 or more years with no degree.EDUCATION: High School or equivalent required, Bachelors degree in Engineering, (Civil, Construction Management) or technical training is required. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.SKILLS: Advanced knowledge of Windows/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint. CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Licensed architect. MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:• Calculate various statistical data - Quantity take offs, material price list, labor costs per man-hour, equipment, etc.• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned.• Follow awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, changes orders, credits; procuring material, etc.• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates figures.• Coordinate with Owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.• Reviews, interprets and accurately estimates scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.• Application of unit costs and productivity rates, as provided by Senior Estimators or other Supervisors.• Solicits and collects subcontractor/vendor bids or quotations.• Prepares subcontractor analysis sheets for assigned scopes of work.• Assists with change order estimating, as required• Assists with purchasing, as directed• Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor relationships• Lead project estimates as directed by Supervisor• Involved in the Preconstruction Training Programs, becoming proficient in all aspects of Preconstruction• Good written and oral communications and team skills. • Able to work receive direction and then work independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities. • Must be dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough. Creative and resourceful in completing tasks accurately in a compressed timeframe• Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor or as project needs dictate.
