The Director of Training & Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating the human resource employee training and development activities of the organization. The position is accountable for the development and implementation of various employee and management training programs that support the strategic goals, values and vision of our organization.The director will have responsibility for a developing a dynamic two-prong education and training program that will target the internal growth and development of staff, as well as the external education of client-company managers in processes and techniques critical to specific areas of management. Training and Development focus: • Conduct comprehensive training needs assessment and make recommendations to senior management. Ensure training and development initiatives support OD and succession planning, as well as organizational goals.• Define optimal learning and delivery method to maximize learning – classroom, e-learning, self-study, etc.• Plan and develop training lesson plans, materials, procedures, and validation tools to gage effectiveness of individual training, classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops. • Provide all training and management development to Company employees as needed to increase readiness for next level job responsibilities. • Develop testing and evaluation procedures. Work with department managers to evaluate effectiveness of training and management development programs. • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. • Coordinates established courses with technical and professional courses provided by community schools and designated outside training facilities. • Collaboratively prepare training budget for department/organization. Monitor training costs to ensure budget is not exceeded. • Train managers/supervisors in effective follow-on training techniques. • Coordinate recruitment and placement of participants in training and management development programs.• Maintain records and writes reports to monitor and evaluate training activities and program effectiveness. • Establish an on-going reporting procedure with senior management to report return on investment in T&D. Qualifications, Skills & requirements: • Bachelors Degree, plus five years of hands-on experience in HR and T&D.• CPLP, PHR or SPHR preferred, but not required.• Extensive understanding of Instructional Systems Design. • E-learning design and development experience preferred. • Experience with the application of adult learning theories, accelerated learning techniques, and other training methodologies used in the development and design of training curriculum and programs. • Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills. • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and have above-average computer keyboard & application skills. • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with people at all levels of the organization. • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.• Must possess the ability to effectively manage in a complex, self-directed organizational structure. • Must demonstrate high competence with various MS-Office suite of applications. • Requires overnight travel by air for 2-6 days each month. Requires valid driver’s license and good driving record.• Requires the ability to lift boxes of training materials weighing up to 25 lbs. repeatedly.
