OPERATOR position(s) are considered “Open until filled.Controls water treatment plant operations in accordance with all established regulations, standards, and procedures: operates and monitors plant/systems processes to ensure proper operations and to detect equipment failures, potential leaks, makes adjustments in system operations as appropriate; performs preventive maintenance checks and procedures on plant equipment. Operates and monitors treatment and distribution system; shuts down and starts plant as necessary; monitors chemical levels in water; monitors and fills day tanks of on site chlorine generation, transfers chemicals from bulk storage to day tanks; determines proper chemical dosages; adjusts and monitors all chemical feeds for the treatment process; monitors and records differential pressures and pressure filters for efficiency; opens/closes fill valves; adjusts high service pumps for distribution flow; adjusts and monitors treatment system for arsenic removal; checks, adjusts and calibrates all treatment plant equipment for proper operation. Checks booster pumps for vibration; flushes sample pumps; adjusts, monitors and records deep well flows; maintains reservoir levels, decants water from drying beds; drains and inspects filters for preventive maintenance; monitors and controls pressures; monitors plant and well generators. Collects water samples for chemical analysis: conducts scheduled chemical tests to determine the chemical composition of water, to control quality, and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations; performs testing to identify levels of alkalinity, Ph, temperature, arsenic levels and calcium hardness. Conducts daily water quality and control testing; logs test results on daily charts and log sheets.Monitors gauges, meters, and charts to ensure proper plant operations; maintains logs/records of plant systems, meter/gauge readings, test results, chemical applications, flow data, and other data; assists in preparing mandatory reports for submission to regulatory agencies. Performs plant, building and grounds maintenance of treatment plant and well sites. Provides professional customer service, service orders, repair and maintenance of water system infrastructure. Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep all facilities, equipment, and tools in operating condition. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate. Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
