The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Q Clearance.The Nanomaterials Sciences Department has an opening for a technologist to participate in basic research focused on understanding materials properties for corrosion and energy storage electrodes. Characterization techniques include electrochemical scanning probe microscopy, polarization, voltametry, and impedance spectroscopy. In addition to the electrochemical measurements, assisting in standard materials characterization is also performed, using a wide variety of analytical techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The work also involves thin film growth using electron beam evaporation, including maintenance of the UHV film deposition system.
