I have owned this boat for over 20 years but now, we dont use it enough or hardly at all and you know how boats are when they sit. About three years ago, I gave it to my Dad to use and he used it less than me. Now he is too old to use it at all so I brought it back here. I ran it in a lake in Washington about two months ago before I hauled it back and its my guess that it needs to be run for a while as it stutters when you gas it from the hole. This condition has happened to me two or three times over the years and it was caused by non use and I have had the carbs cleaned a couple of times and that has fixed the problem but if you dont use it for three years, then it comes back. That has always been a sign of sticky and gummy or varnished carbs in the past, which never happens if you use them enough. It runs fine at high speed and at idle and if you slowly transition it from idle to high speed it does okay. I left it with a mechanic friend of mine to fix while I am gone to Hawaii, until May 25, 2009 when I return to Missoula. Hopefully he fixed it.. Priced to get the heck out of here. The only problem that I know of is that the trim up switch on the engine controls, doesnt work but its just the switch on the controls since the hydraulic pump will lift it if you switch it one at the solenoids directly at the pump. Its got basically brand new tires on it and one wheel bearing has been replaced and we have the other ready to go, since when one goes another usually goes thereafter. Its a shorelander trailer with the rollers. 406.880.0152. Its a closed bow and the vinyl seats are faded but not torn. It has the frame for a cover and maybe has all or part of the cover sitting under the front. It has storage under the floor board down the center. I have a Kevlar Mad River Courier in excellent shape. This boat is about 20 years old but looks like new. It is the solo version of the Explorer that is one of the best all around canoes ever made (ok, maybe I am biased but it is one heck of a boat). I have paddled it down Alberton Gorge and done multiple day solo flat water trips with it. It comes with the cane seat for quiet water and a pedestal saddle seat for white water. Also included are front and rear flotation bags and extra thwarts for the saddle seat.
