I have a Tiger Maple Violin in a "Gator" hard shell case. The violin was made by a Jason Kirby. I have not been able to fing out any thing about the maker on the internet. I had it looked at by 2 music shops both siad it was well made with a decent tone especially for bluegrass music. It comes with a shoulder rest. It has new strings and has been marked for "first position" to assist in learning. I tried to learn to play but my wife, kids and neighbors all think I should stick with the guitar (some people have no appreciation for the arts). Here are the specifics on the drums: The shells are maple and use the VLT or Vertical Low Timbre construction method which is supposed to allow for a lower fundamental pitch. There are no reinforcement rings in the shells. The drums are finished in black lacquer over curly maple, with the wood grain showing through a rally stripe. My last one broke. A snap where the neck meets the body. It was my first real guitar ever. My father gave it to me for my 12th Birthday. This is a century-old German workshop violin with full, rich tone. It has a nicely flamed back and ribs. Varnish is dark brown. I recently took it to a technician who examined it, fitted a new bridge, and strung it with Thomastic strings. There are no cracks and it is in excellent playing condition. The new case is plush and protective. The old wooden "coffin"case is also included in the sale. This violin is very tired of sitting quietly on a shelf.
