GENERAL: This position is for an engineer reporting directly to the Group Lead, Control Systems. The engineer will be a member the team tasked with design, development & integration of the Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), including certain control law designs and definitions. DUTIES: Primary tasks will include AFCS simulation, control law design & analysis and system testing. Additional duties will include definition of system design requirements, statement of work, interface specification, integration testing (hardware-in-the-loop), certification testing and support in the design process and tool development. SKILLS: Should be familiar with modern control system design and analysis methods, modern avionic system architectures, commercial data-bus standards & requirements. Should have knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements, including airworthiness, operational requirements. Should have knowledge of equipment qualification standards including RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, RTCA MOPS & MASPS, & TSO/E-TSO. Preferred candidate would have hands-on experience on control system design and the design of system monitors and signal selection logic. Preferred candidate should have experience in formal requirements flow down and traceability, ARP-4754 and the concepts of validation and verification (V&V). Experience on actuation and sensor (e.g. air data, inertial) systems is a plus. TOOLS: Candidate should be fluent with Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink for control design and analysis and should be familiar with Microsoft Office suite; DOORS and PLM tool (TeamCenter etc.) experience preferred. Experience with other Systems Engineering process tools used for Requirements Management, Defect Tracking and Configuration Control is a plus; more specifically experience with ClearQuest and ClearCase is considered an advantage.
