Thanks again--Kim and Terry									A peek at Cindis worldRefuse to participate in the recessionI was helping put on a large dinner auction for theEnterprise Education Foundation that raises money to keep valuable programs in our Enterprise schools like art, music, home economics and vocational agriculture.  Our auction was April 3rd. One of the duties is going around and asking local businesses to donate services or products that we can use for silent and live auction items.  (We received everything from smaller items like a Pass The Pigs dice game, to a queen size mattress and frame, to a log truck load of wood logs.  Also, our K - 6 classes put together different items for auction as well.  These items have such personal touches put onto them, with a lot of thought and parent/grandparent donations, and these always go for high prices.  We had a huge selection of items for our auction goers to bid on.  It was really amazing!)When I was going from business to business and some people that said they would have to take a pass this round, but I had one guy from a local business tell me that he sure would donate and infact refused to participate in the recession!He went on to say that yes, times are indeed tough, and people are losing their jobs, and it was very hard on some families.  However, he had been fortunate enough to so far survive the downtime and would be glad to donate to our cause.  I liked his attitude.  It made me think that those of us that are surviving this downturn need to help out those that arent doing as well.  Help our your neighbor type of an attitude.We ended up raising around $16,000 which for our small community is fantastic! We were all are so glad that we had the chance to stay in the Rams Head Cottage.  This cottage is a home that you can call  home for yourself.   What we liked the most about the Rams Head Cottage is how when you open all the windows your hear all that Wallowa Lake has instore, as well as the flow of the Wallowa River and the great smell of pine.  We would also like to thank Cindi for everything--we hope to again spend a great and unbelievable time in Wallowa lake! THANKS!!!!!!!! Rios Family									A peek at Cindis worldWallowa County FairSummer is still upon us, but summer is now ending sooner than later.  You can always get a good judge of what is left of summer when the Wallowa County Fair comes around.  Always the first weekend in August, our small fair is a family affair.  The County Fair is run almost entirely by community volunteers, it has many attractions but not the typical fair attractions like carnivals, admittance fees, no big name singers coming into town.  But, there are chickens, rabbits, and lots of 4-H and FFA kids that have been working on their animal projects like pig, sheep, and steer sometimes for the better part of a year.  Plus, throw in some of the best cooks in the county that want the blue ribbons and lots of people will bring in their quilts, garden produce, flowers, and photos all displayed with pride at the Cloverleaf Hall.  Most of the time, you can see all the fathers bright and early cooking breakfast at the volunteer staffed Food Booth, fiddle music, and homemade pies and ice cream.  Local people  turn out to purchase the market animals at the auction.  It is extremely rewarding walking thru our County Fair.
