Respite care is also available when parents need a break.Reimbursement is provided at $800 - $1000 a month per child. It is expected that the foster family provides food, clothing, bedroom furniture, blankets, sheets and pillows. If daycare is utilized the costs are the responsibility of the foster family. Each foster child must have their own bedroom and cannot share with another child. A therapeutic or specialized foster home is one in which a foster child is supported through times of struggle, taught appropriate boundaries, and learns to live in a normal family situation. The goal is for the child to require less and less supervision over time and earn more independence. Potential foster parents should be committed to a child as a long term placement, and be prepared to weather the ups and downs of parenting.Who are our children: Many of our foster children have been abused and neglected by their biological parents and most have had parental rights terminated. This means they are either up for adoption, will be in long term foster care until they reach 18 years old or may be in foster care until they can reunite with other family members.
