What are rhythm beads ? Rhythm beads are more than what they seem. Not only do they look stunning and make your horse stand out from the crowd, but the steady tingle of the bells with the horse’s movement helps to aid with many horses’ and riders’ sense of rhythm. The soft rhythmic sound of the bells improves performance by enhancing the horses stride and rhythm. The bells will soon become a familiar sound to your horse, and will calm him/her out on the trail ride or simple flat riding. The jingle of the bells helps focus the horses attention and aids in eliminating outside distractions. The rhythm beads also lets wildlife know of your presence when out on a trail ride. They are called rhythm beads because the bells sound rhythmically in time to your horse's footsteps , helping both rider and horse stay coordinated. They have become popular with endurance riders for their calming sound over long distances. Horses that are easily spooked readily accept the rhythm beads and the soothing sound they make. Barrel racers use them for a different purpose and call them " speed beads" as they can shave seconds off their time. They can be used for training, ground work, natural horsemanship, dressage, trail rides, endurance, dressage........ Whether dressage, trail or endurance riding or simply a novice, these rhythm beads have a purpose for all. These beads really do work! The concept originated from the native people of America, who used necklaces and other decorations of bells, beads, feathers and tassels to calm their horses and keep more in tune with them.
