I am not sure how old this fax is but we used it up to a year ago. You can see the make/modle in the pictures. I think you can plug it in to a phone line and just use it as a phone if you want. It also comes with 3 unopened rolls of paper. YES it takes the ROLLS of paper not regular computer paper. If you really want a fax machine (even just to send faxes) this is a great deal. newmexico
