The advantage of the pirogue is they can be loaded up gear, girls, (guys?) and gamins, like a canoe, then paddled kayak fashion away. Better, for going faster, fishing or the family, pirogues, also, may be paddled with a standard canoe paddle. I am a professional Boatwright and I built this boat for the fun of it. Everything is yacht quality. Made of ¼” Meranti marine ply for the panels and a highly figured (and gorgeous) Mahogany for the rails and ribs, she, also, has accents of Cypress and Cherry. She is 13’7”L x 31 1/2” width and weighs approx. 40 lbs. Window is ¼” Lexan. Finished to the highest degree she has a skeg to track well and comes with a custom-made kayak paddle and chair, which can be removed for the beach. I can, easily, make this boat a fabulous tribute to the 1# U of F. Gators. Never used. For someone who doesnt want the same old plastic or glass and appreciates fine things she is made of, and finished with, the best materials.
