General Purpose of the Position: Victory Christian Fellowship is looking for a Senior Accountant/Controller to manage the accounting department and provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all Church activities that will assist management in making educated economic decisions about the Church’s present status and future direction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Establish, realign, and develop professional accounting practices and systems within a Church environment. Establish, maintain and install systems and controls which verify the integrity of all practices, processes and data, and enhance the Church’s value. Develop cash management systems and reporting with appropriate internal controls.Direct and manage the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, annual budgets and reports required by regulatory agencies.Manage all disbursement functions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, total corporate payroll tax compliance and banking. Manage all accounts receivable functions to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports. Assure church income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes. Manage insurance coverage’s for protection against, auto and property losses and potential liabilities. Establish, administer, and maintain data systems that integrate accounting and contributions from members. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. Skills and Abilities Required: Experience analyzing, installing, and maintaining accounting software packages and procedures within a complex environmentStrong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledgeExperience with managing teams and cross functional relationshipsHands on experience with accounting data management practicesAbility to maintain hardware and software components of data systemsStrong managerial abilitiesExceptional communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills requiredEducation and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related accounting experience; CPA certification a plus.
