There is also an organic food store, plenty of bicycle and hiking trails, and situated in a very safe, quiet, and classy neighborhood. They actually shut down Beach Drive (2 minutes away) on the weekends to cars, so you can run, walk, or bicycle. In addition, the location is convenient for public transportation – 1 minute walking distance to “Ride on Bus” and/or DC Metrobus which gets you to downtown Silver Spring and Bethesda in approximately five minutes. The nearest metro is less than 1 mile away – Silver Spring, Red line. For those who have a car, the home has plenty of un-zoned street parking directly in front. Perfect for those that work at NIH, Walter Reed, or downtown DC, Silver Spring, or Bethesda. The home has hardwood floors, new windows, skylights, large living room and dining area, new kitchen appliances, dishwasher, double oven, cooktop, new washer/dryer, flat screen liquid plasma TV, wireless internet, central heat and AC, gas fireplace – everything completely remodeled. | I am a high school teacher, and I own a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo. I live here full time, so the living room, dining room and kitchen are fully furnished. The kitchen has cupboard space for you if you have dishes, and of course there is space in the pantry and fridge for your food. Your bedroom and bathroom are empty, and your room has a look out to the POOL (which is open between Memorial day and Labor day). The unit is 1100 sq. ft. on the ground floor. The kitchen is updated - granite counter tops, dish washer, gas range. The entire condo has hardwood floors, and the bathroom is newly updated. There is a grill on the porch and the porch is also fully furnished. Rent includes water, heat, electric, gas. Cable/internet comes to about $50/mo. (with DVR!). Laundry is card operated, and right down the hall. Parking is plentiful right out back. I have a cat, but she keeps to herself. Im asking for half a months rent ($450) as a security deposit. The rental agreement is 6 months, with month to month after that. And the room is empty now, so the lease can begin whenever.The building is less than a mile from the Silver Spring metro, and 0.6 miles from the DC line and Rock Creek Park. I am a runner, and find many running routes from the condo to keep my workout varied. Down town Silver Spring is close by, too. I love the location! Our 3000sq ft townhouse is nearly brand new and has high ceilings and a two-car garage. The beltway, Rt.29, New Hampshire Ave, and I-95 are all easily accessible. Several metro stops are within easy driving distance and the bus to downtown Silver Spring comes practically to the front door. We are very quiet and clean, and are looking for a quiet person who has been on their own for a while, ideally a working professional or a graduate student. There is a small cat in the house but we do a pretty good job of vacuuming and keeping hair to a minimum. We dont smoke and would prefer a non-smoker. Im an incoming grad student at the School of International Service, majoring in Comparative & Regional Studies, concentrating in the Americas. I speak Spanish and English fluently, however there is always room for improvement in both languages. I have reserved a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in a community called The Blairs. Theres also a fitness room in the building as well as an olympic sized pool outside the building free of charge. Ive been living in DC since May because I am interning in the US Congress, so Ive done a lot of apartment hunting. The apartment prices in DC are expensive. This a great deal for everything that that is included in the price.The apartment is about a 4 minute walk to the red line of the metro. The metro is a very common means of transportation here in DC. The metro system in DC is very efficient. One thing that I love about living in Silver Springs, is that it is far enough not to have the noise and violence of DC, yet it is close enough to experience DC whenever you want. It would take maybe 10 minutes to get to the heart of DC from Silver Springs. There is also a grocery store that is a two minute walk away. The Silver Springs downtown is very close as well, and they have a lot of restaurants and activities there. This area has a lot of graduate students and young professionals living in the area that commute to DC everyday for school and work. It is a safe and friendly community. The woman who showed me the apartment has been living in the very same building for over 9 years. That told me that it is a very nice place to live. It is definitely something you must see to believe. It is very nice. A little more about me, Ive studied abroad in Mexico, Brazil, and France. I have been exposed to a lot of different cultures and I find that I can get along with just about everyone. I have also stayed in a lot of different living situations, including an International house in San Jose, California. That was a very interesting experience, but I made a lot of friends. The only thing that could be seen as a drawback for the apartment is that it is not furnished. We will have to buy furniture for the apartment. There is a furniture store nearby called ikea that sells very affordable furniture.I am looking for one roommate. (preferably male). Someone around my age or a bit older. Im past the clubbing stage, so im looking for a roommate thats a bit more relaxed but still likes to have fun. Please dont bring the parties and the club back to the apartment. I dont mind friends coming over, just dont break out the keg and set up for beer pong. Im looking for someone whole can keep the common areas clean. You will have your own bedroom and bathroom. My only concern is the kitchen and the living room. Im looking to experience everything DC has to offer. The political, academic and social aspect of the city are really exciting. | About the Rental Unit:Hello. I have a large basement unit to rent out of my primary residence in downtown Silver Spring for $725/month, plus utilities. The house is very clean, quiet, lots of private space, and has been updated with new appliances. The house has three floors, with one person having their own floor of privacy. Only shared spaces of the house are the kitchen, dining/sunroom, well manicured backyard with patio and pond, large front porch, and washer/dryer area. The basement unit has its own bathroom and a large closet, as well as additional storage space. About the Location:Just three blocks from Downtown Silver Spring metro station, one block from Whole Foods and Safeway, and two blocks from all of the bars and restaurants in downtown Silver Spring.
