Selling this 100 year old full size bed. It has a unique iron spring (holdover from feather beds?). Headboard, footboard, and frame as well as the metal spring that can be used instead of just the metal frame. Must see to appreciate. It was painted by my uncle, so I am assuming it is iron, but could be brass or something else. It was my aunts bed when she was a little girl and she is now 95. I showed the bed to a friend in the garage. Here are some shots. This is the footboard detail. This is the inside of the footboard. The second shot shows where the side rail fits. The bolt comes in from the other side. The head board has a larger solid board with this turning detail on top.------------------Selling a family heirloom antique rope bed. This furniture, like other rope beds, has the pegs still for a rope mattress support. The bed has been \"modernized\" with an adapted metal, spring frame and mattress. Like many antique rope beds, it is not a standard size, its like a 3/4 queen. We bought a memory foam topper though after a quick search, I cannot locate it. With some e-mail interest, I will search more diligently to determine whether we have it or not. My wife got an a kick about memory foam toppers and bought one for every bed in the house, so Im pretty sure that it is in a closet. In the rush to switch beds, I dont know where it went.The bed side rails detach from the head and foot boards so the bed is quite portable. Originally, the rails screwed into the end boards (with wooden threads, believe it). Today, the joints also have metals screws that secure the joint tightly. The screws ends are painted black and are very discreet. The screws screw from the endboards through into the ends of the side rails. Although this bed is antique, it is smoothly finished, not rough hewn. The side rails are round, not square. The finish is dark walnut in appearance. The end and foot boards have nice turnings/accent. Id have pictures uploaded but the bed is taken apart, wrapped and stored in the garage. The bed finish is in excellent shape. My daughter, who was using the bed, needs a adjustable, hospital-type bed now. Again, with some e-mail interest for serious buyers, Ill get the bed out of the garage, set it up, photograph it and take it down again. Or you can come by Reston, VA to look at the parts in the garage.About the Daniel Boone part. This bed was bought by my parents, probably in the 1950s. Ill have to ask them and get a more certain date. The story is that this bed had been in a hotel in Kentucky where Daniel Boone passed through and he stayed at this hotel. We do not have documented proof of this claim but its a fun story to retain about the bed. Sorry, we are not famous and cannot add further to this tale. Wikipedia has a pretty good article about Boone at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Boone though nothing about hotels appears.
