Up for sale is a Troy-Bilt lawn tractor purchased new in March 2001 for $2800, always stored in a shed and well maintained by me. . It has 850 hours on the meter. It is powered by a 23 HP air cooled Kohler V-Twin engine that has been flawless. Full pressureized oil system with cartridge filter. Air intake filter. The deck is a 3-blade 50\" cut with anti scalp rollers (3- across the back) for a nice level cut. Deck is belt drive and has fresh belts on it. Removing the deck is quite easy with 2-spring loaded pins and a spring loaded belt pulley. Tractor comes with 2-sets of blades. I will sharpen the spare set and the blades on the deck were sharpened the first week of May (I change them out about every 5 -6 weeks). I have the plastic deck chute guard which is removed in the picture, and will re-install it before the sale. On the front of the tractor there is a Quick-Remove bumper and has dual headlights for late cutting. There are a wide variety of attachments available for this tractor including a rear bagger, snow plow and snow blower. The unit is hydrostatic drive with a speed pedal and a manual forward & reverse shift lever. There are 2-forward speeds (high & low) and one reverse. The deck raise & lower is also manual. PTO knob on the dash, manual steering, separate choke & throttle levers on the dash. The seat is fully adjustable and the battery is under the seat. Of course it has a cup holder. It shows normal wear for an 8 season old lawn tractor but has been very dependable and we take care of it, not abuse it. (mfg. by MTD, one of the last USA companies in the business so getting parts is relatively easy. ) The tractor has xerk fittings so you can actually grease the moving parts Were selling because we have decided to move up to a John Deere (which as you might know cost as much as a car!)Some things to note: 1) The seat back has a 2\" tear in the vinyl which happens to all seats over time.2) There is a small amount of rust starting to develop around the black rubber foot pads (again, nothing that will limit years of tractor use) 3) PTO is starting to exhibit signs of needing replacement. You can pull the PTO and run the blades and cut for a while, but if you shut the PTO off it sometimes does not engage the blades when you pull it back out. We have found that if you shut the tractor off when this occurs and then start it back up, the PTO works again. Not sure if it is a loose wire, electrical connection that needs cleaning and havent made time to fix it. My guess is it is electrical in nature since the PTO does work and the problem is intermitent. Maybt the PTO switch itself. 3) I have nt changed the oil yet this season. 4) Last fall, installed a new deck pulley, engine drive pulley, drive belt and deck belt.All in all, this tractor is probably a 6 on a scale of 1 - 10 and is best suited for some one who is in need of something big to cut with, is mechanically inclined and can work on this type of equipment, and at a reasonable price. I have all of the manuals thaat came with the tractor. I also have a 100 lb. Agri Fab Lawn spreader that I will throw in with the tractor if you would like.
