Due to recent requests to see my before and after work, I decided to post one of my fun projects;… restoring precious items of the past. Antiques often collect dust due to problematic breaks or blemishes, in need of proper TLC. Please note; this does not mean my items have breaks or grand problematic issues, infact, if they do, I disclose the issues in my postings; (which is only the proper thing to do). I find there are so many items out there which need TLC; perhaps residing in your home; just waiting for an opportunity to be fixed. Here we have a wonderful antique hand carving set from Bavaria. The gentleman had tipped his hat to the ladies one two many a time and needs a bit of TLC. I took heavy wire and reconstructed the hat in metal mesh embedded in the wood so it will not chip again in this area and formed plaster glue in place. Then I took my dremel and carved the hat back to what would seem to be the original shape. I match the stain out of my handy oils set. This job took about 4 hours and due to the set, it required 2 days. My lowest rate for this effort is $100. The lady in waiting is in great shape and alone is valued above $100, so the once again couple can resume their place as a collectable pair. The gentleman has his dignity and posture back with the original value not matched, but pleasure of the piece indeed. I give free quotes for restoration of this kind. I do find value in damaged items, so think again before you throw away. This couple was shipped across country to find a place in my studio. Im selling an adorable Bombay jewelry box that sat in my room for several months. It was purchased new for $50 when Bombay was still in business. Im sad to let it go, but I have way too many jewelry boxes and am moving out of my house and into a smaller apartment. The top and sides open up to reveal an area for rings, two drawers that pull out for larger items, and hooks to hang necklaces on so they dont get tangled.
