The basementis renovated and in great shape. This is very a nice room. The East Falls Church metro is about 3/4 of a mile away (less than a 15 minute walk) and I-66 is just a bit further than that. Its a very quiet neighborhood that is convenient to Ballston, Clarendon and virtually all of Arlington. The house has 4 bedrooms (one of them in the basement), 2 bathrooms, living room/dining room, refinished basement that we use as a den, and a big backyard. We have a washer/dryer and an extra full refrigerator in the basement. There is unlimited free street parking. The backyard is perfect for cookouts and we have a horseshoe pit. We are 3 laid back guys who are easy to get along with. We typically take it easy during the week and have been known to throw down on the weekends. The cost is $825 for the very large basement bedroom (with private bathroom) plus utilities. Utilities typically run around $100 each per month (some months it is higher due to quarterly water bill and higher electric usage). We have Direct TV (including Sunday NFL ticket) and Comcast wireless internet. The house is pretty much fully setup with entertainment and furniture. The new person would only need bedroom stuff. Hi! My name is Landis and I have a fantastic 2BR 1BA condo in Arlington. I’ve been living with my best friend for the past few years, but she’s going to grad school in August and this is the best apartment I’ve ever lived in, so I’m looking for a new roommate.Location: Hard to beat! I live in the Courthouse area of Arlington – a 5-10 minute walk to the Courthouse metro (orange) and Rosslyn metro (blue/orange). I’m walking distance to Georgetown and an inexpensive cab ride to Dupont and Adams Morgan. I can walk to Whole Foods, Safeway, Borders, the movie theater, and all the shopping, restaurants, and bars in Clarendon. The condo is in Colonial Village, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is included in Best Addresses: A Century of Washington’s Distinguished Apartment Houses. It has beautiful landscaping and lots of green spaces and courtyards. All of the streets surrounding Colonial Village are specified for resident parking, so I never have a problem with my car (you need a zone 4 pass, which I think my roommate would be willing to sell you for $20).The condo: I’ve been living here for 2 ½ years, so it has a homey feel to it. The common spaces are painted, and most of the furniture is mine (my roommate is taking the brown recliner and the wine rack). However, I’m not opposed to furniture additions/changes. There is a hard wood floor living room and dining room that attach to one another. The floor plan is open with lots of windows and natural light. We have central heat and air that we control ourselves. The kitchen is a bit tight, but fully equipped with a stove, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, and fridge. The bathroom is shared, but generous, and I try to keep it clean. The bedroom is spacious with a large double window, a cable jack, carpet, and a closet. There are two additional closets in the common area, as well as a separate storage unit in the basement. The laundry facilities are conveniently located just below the apartment. Rent is $1775, which includes water and trash services. After the current cable set up and the power bill, we each end up paying a little under $1000. Our landlords are so nice – a family that lives just past Ballston. We babysit for their two young daughters. Pets are not allowed. The building and grounds are safe, clean, and secure.A little about me: I’m a 25 year old female. I grew up in Knoxville, TN, got my undergrad at UGA, and moved to DC for grad school after spending a couple years in Charleston, SC. I just finished my master’s degree in art history at GW and am currently teaching at a preschool in Vienna. I’ve always lived with good friends, so living with a stranger would be an adjustment for me. I’m not looking for someone to replace my best friend, just someone who I can hang out with, talk to, cook with – you know, someone whose company I enjoy. I don’t smoke or do drugs, and I wouldn’t like to live with someone who does (at least not in the apartment). However, if you share my love of wine, that’s a plus. I like to keep the apartment relatively neat and am frustrated by a lot of clutter or dirt. I am NOT a fighter and avoid conflict. I would call myself a night owl rather than an early bird. That doesn’t mean that I’m up partying all the time. (The new job has brought me back to the real world and uncomfortably early hours.) I typically reserve the weeknights for working out, occasional happy hours, dinner with friends, wine on the front lawn, etc. I try to live it up on the weekends, although that doesn’t necessarily mean the typical bar scene (though I do enjoy that too). The recent line-up includes camping and tubing in West Virginia, a concert at Wolf Trap, Jazz in the Park at the NGA sculpture garden, a winery, and picnics/football at Iwo Jima. If these things sound fun to you, then we’d probably get along :). My girlfriends come over to make dinner a few nights a month. I don’t have lots of parties, but the apartment has served as a social gathering place because of its great location. However, it seems all my friends are slowly moving away, so if you have friends to bring around, the more the merrier. My boyfriend goes to law school in Williamsburg, so we visit each other on the weekends (though not every weekend). He’ll probably spend between 2-4 nights out of the month at the apartment. I don’t care if you have a significant other, as long as it’s not a live-in situation. I am looking for someone who is close to my age, preferably female (though I’m open to male), responsible, fun-loving, laid back, and outgoing. We don’t need to hang out all the time, but in the end, I don’t want to live with someone who feels like a stranger.
