Antique Imperial Optical Co. Leather Barrel Binoculars - $13 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-23 8:57AM
We are happy to offer you this antique pair of binoculars from Imperial Optical Co. Paris. The barrels are covered with a leather that is rather scuffed but for the most part still well intact. With the center dial, the eye pieces move in or out to focus. No markings anywhere to indicate the the magnification. It measures approximately 4 1/2\" W x 4 1/4\" T x 2\" D at the largest end of the lens. Please note that due to age, there are some issues with this piece. On the inside of the right barrel the leather is coming loose at the seam. But, this could easily be glued back. Also, some of the leather shows scuffing and discoloration. On the inside of the right large lens there is some discoloration on the lens itself that is an oval that is about 1 1/2\" X 1/2\". So, when you look the the eye piece there is a blurry spot that you see.The original case, or what is left of it will be included but it is in very poor condition. It still has the lid and the body but the base is gone as are the straps that close the lid. It is a brown leather.I do have more pictures so please email me if you would like to see them.Terms• For pickups, we meet in the parking lot of Village Market on Hwy 117 in Ledyard. Mortens Studio Boxer Bulldog Bulldog 7" Tall - $8 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-23 8:52AM
We have for you today a great boxer bulldog figurine from Mortens Studio. The beautiful canine stands 7\" in and is approximately 7 1/2\" long. On his belly there is the small round gold sticker that says \"Copyright by the Mortens Studio.\" This piece does have a few issues that I want you to be aware of.1) Some cracks in paint around ear and also some paint chipped away from tips of ears and along edges.2) A tiny tip of the right is gone. I had to look at it under my magnifying glass to be sure it is chipped to give you an indication of how small the chip is.3) Two small pinhead size chips in paint on body.4) Cracks in paint on back left leg. This isnt terrible visible but I could feel it.Terms• For pickups, we meet in the parking lot of Village Market on Hwy 117 in Ledyard. Vintage Handpainted Pottery Bowl~Signed - $10 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-23 8:50AM
We are offering to you a very unique handpainted bowl made of pottery. It is obvious that this is authentic and wish we had some way of knowing its country of origin. It is signed on the bottom but we cannot make out the maker but feel that it was possible the artisians signature and not a company. It is painted in greens, golds, purple, and black. It is 9 1/2 \" in diameter X 2 3/4\" tall which includes the 3/4 \" base. There are no chips or nicks. The painted surface does have a rough feel to it.Terms• For pickups, we meet in the parking lot of Village Market on Hwy 117 in Ledyard. O. P. Co. Syracuse China Portrait Tray~1913 - $25 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-23 8:43AM
We have a lovely piece to offer you from O.P. Co Syracuse China. I believe this to be a dresser tray. It has a lovely portrait picture of a pheasant dressed woman who is gathering water in her jug. The edging is in a gold design. The plate measures approximately 11 1/2 X 7 1/4 inches. I have searched but have been unable to come up with a pattern name. The back is marked with the markers mark and also impressed is a diamond shape with the number 19. This dates this piece as 1913.Please note that due to its age there is some worn spots. In the portrait itself there are a couple of spots that the paint is gone along with some of the gold design along the edging. But, I could not find any chips or cracks.Terms• For pickups, we meet in the parking lot of Village Market on Hwy 117 in Ledyard. We are happy to offer you this gorgeous cup and saucer from Crown Staffordshire England. The cup has a cream interior, handle and base. The outer portion of the cup is in a soft yellow and overlayed with a profusion of gold flowers as is the interior of the saucer. After extension search, I have not been able to find the pattern name for this piece. The center of the saucer is cream with an elegant gold garland within the circle. The same gold garland is along the inner rim of the coffee cup.The edging of the cup and saucer is scalloped and is rimmed in gold. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and the cup stand 3 1/4 inches tall. The bottom of the saucer has the Crown Staffordshire and Crown Hallmark with England underneath. It also has the number H 112. The cup has the same hallmark and has the letter H. Massachusetts Civil War Soldier Testimonial - 1870- 7th Mass Vol Inf - $150 (Central NH) Central NH 2009-06-06 7:13PM
Due to the plethora of SCAMMERS on craigslist (most via gmail), I will not be responding to any/all inquiries lacking a phone number/time to reach you. Anyone who has listed anything on craigslist knows exactly what Im talking about here. Its a shame things are this way, but until the powers-that-be clear out the riff-raff, this is what one must to do protect themselves. Regretfully, I have no function for the taking/posting/emailing of digital pics; very sorry. Testimonial certificates were issued in 1870 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for each of her soldiers who served honorably in the Civil War. Recipient for this one is Private Rueben Chase, originally of the 7th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Regiment was later consolidated into the 37th MVI, and finally the 20th MVI. Certificate was published by \"American Bank Note Co - New York & Boston\", and includes many engraved vignette likenesses of scenes at home and the front. Oval portraits adorn each side margin; President Abraham Lincoln on the left, and what might be Lieutenant-Governor George N Dale(?), on the right. Other engravements scattered around the perimeter of scripted text are symbols from the Second, Fifth, Sixth and Nineteenth Corps. The lower portion includes bold FACSIMILE autographs of Adjutant & Inspector General, James A Cunningham; and Governor William Claflin, left to right, respectively. Document measures approximately 15x20, and has gained a natural sepia tone over time. It is remarkably free of water stains, tears, creases and other similar maladies almost invariably found on these nearly 140 year old acidic paper certificates. Note; this is a State Testimonial, which is not same as the federally issued Honorable Discharge. The latter is a much smaller document, measuring about 8x11 (or about half the size of a Testimonial). Rueben Chase was a farmer in Swansea prior to the war. He first served with the 7th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, then the 37th MVI upon consolidation. Both units were Sixth Corps regiments that saw their share of action in some of the Eastern Theaters biggest battles. Chase was taken prisoner-of-war at second Fredericksburg in May of 1863, and wounded in February of 1865 at Hatchers Run. His record is as follows; Chase, Rueben; 7th Mass Vol Inf, Co D, private - res. Swansea, Farmer, 21, enl. Dec 30, 1861; m/i Jan 06, 1862; POW Fredericksburg May 03, 1863; re-enlist. Dec 30, 1863; transf. June 14, 1864 to 37th Mass Inf, Co A. -37th Mass Vol Inf, Co A; wdd Feb 07, 1865 Hatchers Run, Va. trans. to 20th Mass, Co C, June 19, 1865. -20th Mass Vol Inf, Co C; absent wdd; disch. for disability July 06, 1865. This certificate is from my personal collection and smoke-free home. Document will ship flat and well-protected. TERMS: Price is firm at $150 + $5/ship fee toward Priority Mail/Insurance to USA, ONLY (will not ship outside US). Payment must be via US Postal money-order or CA$H...ONLY. Recipient for this one was Private Isaac B Holmes, of the 3rd Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. Prior to the war he was a sailmaker in the fishing port of New Bedford, Mass. Certificate was published by \"American Bank Note Co - New York & Boston\", and includes many engraved vignettes depicting scenes at home and the front. Document is approximately 16 x 20. Nearly 140 years of age have naturally sepia-toned the paper. As is usually the case on these antiquarian acidic paper made certificates, there is some staining on lower portion, but not enough to diminish its appeal. Note; this document is not same as the federally issued Honorable Discharge, which is considerably smaller. The 3rd Mass Heavy Artillery was assigned to an Engineering Corps. Their duty primarily consisted of protecting troops, and building roads/bridges across the Appomattox & James Rivers in Virginia. Got caught in a tight spot at Farmville, just a couple of days prior to Lees Surrender of April 9, 1865. Holmes came out of it all remarkably unscathed. His military record follows; Holmes, Isaac B - 3rd Mass H/A, Co B; private, res. New Bedford, 25, sailmaker, enl & m/i May 30, 1863; m/o Sept 18, 1865. Document is mounted on heavy stock backing, and has been stored in my SMOKE-FREE home. Lot of 3 Coppercraft Guild Copper Pieces - $12 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-02 7:37AM
We are offering you a lot of three copper items. They are as follows:1) A pair of candlestick holders by Coppercraft Guild out of Tauxton, MA. The candleholder itself sits inside a copper bowl. The inside of the bowl does show some tarnish and wax residue. It is 4 3/4\" in diameter and 2 1/2\" tall at its highest point. The outside of the bowls does show some scratches. There is one small dent on one about the size of a dime. I tried to take a picture of it but couldnt get it to show up well enough to see. 2) Oval copper tray with ornately engraved center. No dents found but is in need of a good polishing. There is the remnants of a label on the bottom but you can no longer see the maker. Measures 11 1/2\" in diameter.3) Leaf shaped tray that is very detailed down to the veins in the leaf. There are also acorns and other smaller leaves in the design. This has more of a flat finish instead of shiny like the other pieces. Looks to be in perfect shape. Measures 10 3/4\" X 9 7/8\" at its longest and widest points.I do have more pictures if you would like to see them.Terms• If the item is still listed it is still available for purchase. Lot of 2 Collector Plates - $7 (Ledyard)  (pic) Ledyard 2009-06-02 7:28AM
I have two plates that I am offering. The first is a beautiful plate called \"Trotting Cracks\" At The Forge. It is a Currier and Ives Reproduction and is part of the Americana Series. It is made by Delano Studios in Setauket, NY for Sun Glo Studios. It is 10 1/8 inches in diameter. There are no chips or cracks. Please note there is what I think is a manufacturers flaw. Along the top rim there is a loss color along the edging of the plate for about 3 inches at the top of the plate. You can see it when you hold it to the light at the right angle and can also feel it.The second plate is a blue decorative plate from Currier & Ives. It is from the \"Winter in the Country\" collection and it is of \"The Old Grist Mill.\" The plate measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter and has no chips or cracks. This plate is meant for decorative purposes only. Please note there is a flaw in the plate that appears to have occurred during manufacture. There is what looks like a smudge in the paint over the word \"Grist\" that covers up the letters \"r\" and \"i\". This is not a chip. It is easily seen in the picture provided.
