1830 BLOWN WHISKEY FLASK NAILSEA TYPE - $135 (HAMMONTON NJ) This hand blown whiskey flask was made between 1830 and 1850. It is called Nailsea type. Though this type was made in Nailsea England it was also made in many glass houses in South Jersey, New York, and at Sandwich, Mass. The way you can tell the early ones like this one is the thickness of the white stripped glass. The ones made after 1850 were much thinner and a lot more of them. The bottom of this flask has a very cleanly snapped pontil mark. The sign of a mature experienced glass blower. It is in the 1 pint size and is in very good condition, with no flakes or cracks anywhere. Please check out my other items I currently have on Craigslist. Just look for the HAMMONTON NJ town. 1894 ROYAL DOULTON TOBY PITCHER sgn. & dated rare TAPESTRY - $795 (HAMMONTON NJ) We are pleased to offer one of the rarest forms of early Royal Doulton Toby pitchers. This was one of their first models, and it was made between 1894 and 1896. This was purchased for a private collection at a David Rago auction in the late 1980s. It has a very deep mold strike that shows every detail to its finest point. It also has a tapestry technique that is uncommonly seen on Nippon and Royal Bayreuth China, and even more rarely seen on Lambeth Doulton pieces. The tapestry was deeply impressed on the clay and it left a very detailed, textured surface behind. If you look closely, you can see the potter's thumbprint on the ribbon at the bottom of the handle. It is marked "Doulton; Lambeth; England", which was used for certain items made between 1891-1956. It has the mold number "5092", which indicates manufacture dates between 1894-1896. It also has the designers mark that looks like an 'a' next

C. 1825 silk boarding school sampler v.fine needlework - $600 (hammonton nj) Offered here is an 1820 silk St. Johns Finishing and Boarding School sampler from Salem County, N.J. Signed School samplers are very rare and this one is signed! At the top it has "JOHN S" and on the bottom it has "Mary M Cullen Sampler worked at St Johns F B School". The "F B" stands for finishing and boarding. It is stitched in silk on linen. It is a very nice sampler with pious sayings about the Lord, as well as life and death and one saying is "May angels wait attended by To guard my mother safe to heaven". I can only find 1 hole, approx. 1/4" and a small bit of staining on the very bottom. The floral and berry border is uncut and is very wide, measuring 1.5" to 2" all around. This finely done sampler is not dated but it is from the 1815 to 1825 time frame. It could be even earlier because a lot of the earlier samplers, (18th century to 1820) were done in such a small stitch that it is almost a petit point.

1850-10" PRESENTATION DECORATED STONEWARE GRAIN FUNNEL V.RARE - $1795 (HAMMONTON NJ) This extraordinary funnel is a presentation piece with cobalt decoration that includes the original owner's initials. It is ca. 1850 to 1870 and it is a huge piece, adding to its desirability. It is from Western Pennsylvania or Eastern Ohio. The original owner ordered it from the pottery and they put his initials on the funnel in cobalt oxide with the hand painted decoration before firing. The owner's initials are I.W. It resembles redware, but it is actually salt glazed stoneware. Items from the region were frequently made to appear this way. The interior is unglazed and the potter's turning marks are evident. This large funnel measures about 10" tall and is 8 ¼" across the top. The bottom is about 2 ¼" across and the pottery is ¼" thick. It weighs just over 6 pounds! The condition is absolutely amazing. There are minor surface flaws from the original firing process, but nothing to detract f

1870 SPECTACULAR BOSTON SANDWICH ROLLING PIN 3 COLOR - $400 (HAMMONTON NJ) This rolling pin is about as good as it gets in collecting rolling pins. It is made of hand blown glass by the Boston and Sandwich Glass works, ca. 1870. Sandwich started copying Nailsea Glass Works' famous looping designs around 1850 and used them until the late Victorian era. Because this example has tighter loops (and more of them), and a less tapered shape, it dates to about 1870. The color in person is as good as it is in the photos. It also has a wonderful large bubble in one end. Both ends are closed, and there is no hole for spices as a Nailsea rolling pin would have. It measures about 15" x 2" and is just superb. The original purpose of the rolling pin was a container for heavily taxed salt in England. The early dark glass rollers were filled with salt, stoppered, and hung horizontally in the chimney. It was later that they were used as a pastry roller which caused their evolution to an even diameter

1851 HUGE CONN. Important Genealogy Sampler: Burwell Family - $1500 (HAMMONTON NJ) This amazing genealogy is a very large and colorful sampler! It is from Connecticut and is signed and dated "Catharine Burwell 1851". It has the 10 Burwell children named. The earliest born is Henry, 1806 to the last born in 1846. You can see that when Catharine did this, the only person to have passed away was the first born who died in 1846. Nine of the 10 family members had died and were memorialized on this one document. Note how the color of the thread changed as more died and the document was updated. Catharine died in 1896. A true history of a Connecticut family, this sampler is done in a tight wool on linen. It is in its period mahogany frame. It measures a whopping 27.5" x 22.5" overall, fully bordered in a floral design. This sampler is uncut. Vintage wooden handcrafted large four shelf plant stand. Semi circle design. My grandmother used this for her housplants in a baywindow inside and in the summer outside on the porch from 1912 to 1956. It has been painted dark green to match the other porch furniture. A few of the shelves are a little loose from age and will need to be either nailed, glued or screwed to the frame. It could have many other uses. It is handcrafted and one of a kind.
