Gibson Cambria ice box! This is a genuine antique icebox. This is a full house size, four door box, and is a very rare find as you typically see the smaller apt size, only it is signed "Gibson Cambria" on an engraved plate. Ash and oak hardwood has warm golden patina, The finish is in very good condition with lots of character, minor wear and or stains just enough to add to its charm. Hardware is in beautiful shape just as is the unit. It has a hinged panel across the bottom of the front of the box for empting a drip tray. The 2 top doors open out to reveal a black, tin lined inside. The right side comes with 3 adjustable shelves and the left side is open. This is a remarkable find!!!! You just can not find craftsmanship like this anywhere. This box is over 100 years old and is in better shape then most of the furniture in my home now. I had a hard time believing myself that this piece is from the turn of the century. You want to talk about history? This piece is living history. This was used before electricity! This is something that our grandparents, even great grand parents used, back in the “ good ole days”, back in the days of “milk men” and “butcher shops” This box was in use back when horse and carriage was the main mode of transportation. Blocks of ice were probably delivered to this box by horse drawn wagons, talk about nostalgia ? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this ice box. It is ready to use right now. It will look beautiful in any collection or on its own. I have it sitting in my living room right now. It looks great! It is a wonderful source of conversation, everyone who enters my home comments on it and it quickly becomes the focal point of all conversations. You have to see it to truly appreciate it.
