This has been around here for 40 odd years, stands 5 ˝” high. The old adage hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil is well represented. Lots of detail and character in the faces, this is always looked at. The first question “is it real ivory”, what a maze this is, I have concluded the following:? It is not from a mold as there is no “part line” or area that it could have been and cleaned up. It passed the “pin test” as noted in the link below. The size is large for an ivory item but could have been from a large tusk. Conclusion – I do not think this is from a tusk but rather cast from a resin ivory and then carved. If I knew it was real ivory I would ask $2,500 for it. Not trying to rip anyone off so asking what I consider a good price for the age and detailed character of the carving, like I say it always gets looked at and the lesson is timeless, thanks, Bob See my reference information on line by copying the following link in your browser and clicking enter: http://www.asian-arts.net/oriental-treats/fake.htm Location: West Jordan,Utah it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests utah
