Please read the whole ad before responding. 5.7 liter crate motor, Vortec heads 290 -310 hp Alpha 1 OD, new/replaced 3 seasons ago – roughly 60 -80 hours on OD New, this season or last: Oil Pump, pan gasket, pick up Full exhaust, Water pump Alternator Power steering hoses, Gimbal Bellows Shift cable Bottom painted 6-29-09 Tilt and trim sending switches All fluids changes this season, fittings lubed,fuel filter, Marine Spark plugs Exhaust gaskets Needs: Either a short block or possibly several bearings replaced. Short blocks can be had for $1,200 to $1,700. I would go short block as the quickest way to get on the water. Low hour engine. Spacer gasket failed allowing water to trickle in and mix with oil which I believe allowed scoring on a couple of bearings. No bearing noise evident. When we replaced the oil pump this June(as a suspect in the oil pressure problem we did a visual inspection on the bottom end and did not see anything obviously wrong and did not see any metallic material in oil pan.) Can hear run on trailer but will not launch as oil pressure problem is a know issue. Engine will show 40 -50 lbs of oil pressure at idle but will drop to 5 lbs or less once engine heats up(hence belief that one or more bearings are shot/out of tolerance.)
